Default Need new tires wheel balancing advices

Any opinions on having Costco to do the wheel balancing for tires that I may purchase online ?
I talked to a local Costco rep, they will mount tires that are purchased elsewhere for total of $40+ for all four, that is cheap, and they do have stick on weights.

In another words are there better wheel balancer machine that performance shops use that is better than Costco's ?

If I do go to Costco, I plan to unmount them myself and only bring the wheel/tires. I ain't going to let them touch my P-car.

Costco uses the same spin balancers that many shops use. They are sometimes more careful than some tire shops because a supervisor is supposed to check that the wheels are properly torqued before letting the car out the door.

I would think if you explain the guy that you have nice wheels, and would greatfully request care in handling them, they should respond to your request.

$40 is a great deal for mounting and balancing!

2nd the hunter gsp 9700!

Costco is barely acceptable for your daily driver, and definately not acceptable for your sports car!

And btw, the shop that has the GSP 9700 only charges $50 to mount/balance tires. So I don't think it's a significant price difference to have the best.

Costco did my rear tires about a month ago. No problems. They seem to be fairly careful.

After looking at installers and equipment at a few local tire places I went to Costco who (for me) did a nice job. I let them only remove old tires and install new tires on rims only. I will recheck the machine they used but it touched the inner rim only. That machine was why I went there and ended up buying Pilot Sports - I only wish I had gotten the Cup Michelins...doh!
