10k miles on that Vesuvio? I call B.S.! That calls for a deep PPI! Look at the driver’s seat!

Sir, it was previously owned by a gentleman of extraordinarily large carriage. He was, in fact, the great grandson of the 27th President of these United States, William Howard Taft, who himself weighed in at over 300 pounds (approximately 22 stone).

All kidding aside, what bolster wear? Where is the wear, Gee-bawse?

I don’t give a **** if George Washington owned the car! With values where they are now I have seen some total B.S. as of late! Records and maintenance documentation would be key here! Too easy to pop the ODO and free ***** it!

I don't see any issue with the driver seat, what car are we talking about?

the marketing of the Vesuvio car with 206K on it- saying 1100K seems off to me. Yeah that's since a rebuild, but that's kinda misleading and there's PLENTy of other stuff that will need to be addressed if it hasn't already been done. But man, prices seem to be holding.

Sure I totally agree, I can't find that car atm. but I know the advert. The seller does not reveal the real mileage prior to restauration.

This thread is technical? All these price threads should be moved to OT.

2800+ posts on this thread- these are all in reference to the 993 WB model. Most of us on this thread share in a number of tech threads. OT is a hodgepodge of stuff- I think you're the first to suggest this. I disagree.

If you read this thread carefully, I weighed in with the same expression some time ago. Sadly this is such a popular thread it will take you some time to find it. It’s a sad testament to what is slowly happening to this Forum. Values are eclipsing the driving and technical aspects. We need more drivers, and less investors. The 964 Forum is nothing like this, and hopefully it never will be.

you and I have been a part of this community for about the same amount of time- yes things have changed. I'm not even sure there are moderators out here anymore and yes, the discussion on value is high with 993's- but it's happening to a lesser degree across almost every model thread. 964's ( at least a couple of them) are worth a TON more than most 993's. Right now there are basically three threads on the 993 tech forum that talk about prices - the "post your recent purchase", "NB are Bananas" and this one. This is STILL the leading forum for all things technical on these cars and I for one, rely heavily on it for updates, insights and tips on repairs. The enthusiasts that frequent this thread (including you and I Foxman) spend more time surfing a lot of other topics-but I know I am certainly interested in valuations. If not just for insurance purposes, it's also comforting to see the massive investment I know I have made in my car, is at least being covered by appreciation and validated here... I'm not a flipper and I don't think most of the participants in this thread are either- but that's just my guess. I've owned my car for 10 years now.

So it took you 2 years and over 2800 posts to dust off your soap boxes and stand on them?

Tracking prices and value is technical.

Yes I believe it is technical. We're talking about valuations and finance. More important for classic cars. These data points are important in analyzing the market.

It's unlike the threads over in the 992 GT3/RS section that are ADM based and such. Though I could say those threads offer some of the same benefit, though get tiresome quickly.

The forum isn't under the category Mechanical...it's Technical....things other than mechanical can be technical.

My 2 cents.

I need to a) move to CA, AZ or b) drive in the winter......in order to drive more. Would absolutely love to not have winter. It's a gut wrenching time of year when the cars sit inside for about 5-6 months.

This. Maybe OT is the wrong choice. Make a value sub-forum. Values and rampant speculation is indeed not technical whatsoever. Maybe I'm just old. I'll drop this thread too and go outside to return to my regular task of yelling at clouds.
