no where around here had M6 bolts with enough thread to thread all the way down and push against the alternator itself.
Fun times.
try it next time , you won't be deceived
all you need is that the bearing moves a tad , and loosen
10 cms long bolts, are great for this
Evenmore, since your fan was out, you could have even placed three small metal sheets where bolts meet alternator

I would have freaked out , with a chisel, to misalign the alternator axle, but I understand you did this on old alternator
Thanks 95_993 and pp000830!
I did notice the remanufactured alt had a different wire mounting block but was planning on using it as is until seeing your post.
I will definitely switch that out!
I haven't installed the new alt yet because I decided to order a new fan bearing and replace it while I was in there. It should arrive today,
Gotta love Rennlist!

Glad it worked out Blue Ocean. I saw this issue on a reman alternator directly from Porsche last year and thought it was worth bringing Steen room to it. I found the thread I shared helpful at the time.

Did that yesterday, worked like a threat. Very minor marking on the alternator body from the 3 bolts. Wat better and safer than using a puller onto the fan.
Thanks
