Good to know, thanks for clarifying!
My tech told me that my warning was because of my code 24, looks like I'll have to investigate further then.
It's probably only because someone pulled the rear spoiler bulb? Apologies for derailing.

The CWL will only trigger if there is something that will affect the car’s driving such as an engaged hand brake, emissions, etc. I would definitely get this diagnosed at a reputable air-cooled shop prior to any drives.

Sorry, I am not trying to be argumentative but this is not a true statement for the 1994 or 1995 MY cars.

A bunch of different things can trip the central light, including faults related to the multiple flap motors in the HVAC.
That is a true statement for the 96+ MY cars, not so much for a 94 or a 95 MY.

Thanks all,

I got what I need. There are around a dozen different items that the owners manual lists trip that !. Im going to check each one again by disabling each system to see if I get a light and a !. If they all check out (which i presume they will because I have been through all of this before) then I guess its time to replace the control unit.

Yes, I agree it is a more serious issue than it may first appear to be, should be diagnosed because it can mask other running issues that need immediate attention to avoid damaging the engine.
Before involving a Profe$$ional,
consider turning your ignition off and then back on and during the initial self-test see that all the dash warning lights illuminate.

I wonder if one of the sensors is slow to respond on start up creating an initial fault condition that always resolves itself? You could try turning car off and quickly restarting to see if the ! Comes on.

i find it hard to believe it’s the computer and would want to be very certain before spending that cash.

maybe swap computer with a local rennlister and see if the fault travels with the computer?

When people mention the CWL, is that the light in the tach or the light in the center switch stack in front of the shifter? I have a light that comes on in the center stack every time I turn on the headlights. Everything works so I never dig into it.

So here is an update. I pulled out the oil pressure/temperature gauge cluster and found that the low brake pad warning light did not have a bulb. So i put a bulb in and it lit up...considering you can replace all 4 pad sensors and the light for around 40 Bucks im not sure why someone would have pulled this light out. So that was the reason for my (!) that I have been putting up with for 5 years...its always something simple with these cars. I need to train myself to look for the obvious and not assume its going to be a disaster.

So there was one light not lighting. They really disappear when not lit. You have to know where to look

you should also look at the handbrake switch at the base of the handbrake. The metal contact comes loose. Fiddle but easy to fix

in the center stack there should be a light above every switch that comes on when you put on the lights.
if there is only one then I believe there are a few lightbulbs defect on your car.
This is very common, and you can replace them with led’s and a resistor if your handy with a soldering iron.
