What mount did you use for the rear vertical orientation of the DME? I’ve looked in the PET and it’s not showing much....

The Cup Car is equipped with an aluminum plate that acts as a mount. It’s secured with rubber mounts.

I did not use the aluminum mount in my 964, as it seemed superfluous, and simply bolted the unit directly to the foot-well using anti-vibration rubber isolator mounts.

To move my 993 DME to the 964 Cup location, I unwrapped the harness and reconfigured it. The correct tape to re-wrap the wiring with, if you want to be OEM, is this Tesa brand from Amazon

It protrudes quite a bit above the padding, holding the mat up and potentially damaging the rubber backing.

Thanks.
What baffles me is why does a new mat have to sit on top of the old mat? More weight and bulkness. When you replace a carpet you usually discard it. You don't put a new carpet on top of the old carpet. I know that's what's recommended but it simply doesn't make sense.

Is there no hole in your new mat for this "well stud"? Could you aesthetically add a hole?

I just realized the pictures below are of my old Cup car! The only reason Porsche used the plate rather than mounting directly to the tub with rubber mounts is durability. The DME was replaced before each Cup race with a randomly distributed standard unit that was then removed after the race so as to preclude racers reprogramming the DME. A lot of on and offs during a race season for just rubber mounts to last. This durability not important really except for this special purpose.

I can source some Alum plate and cut/drill to spec. Use of nutserts would be ideal.

my loom is till the original with bits of goo and foam. Makes for that vintage racer look. But it’s getting sorted soon, so appreciate the link.

+1

After re-wrapping a bunch of my wiring harness because of some savage previous owners or hired hands, I'd like to make a public service announcement to please use the correct type of tape. Brand is irrelevant but for the love of god do not use electrical tape anywhere on a car. Ugh!

And did you also modify the DME cable length or not?
What about the other connectors and the metal plate under the driver seat?
I also added the 2 hook rings under the seats...did you also manage to lower the driver seat supports?

I did not have to change the DME cable length, I just separated the wires to the 55 pin connector from the bundle and routed them to the wall behind the seat then re-wrapped with Tesa tape and used a 964 Cup mounting plate I had.
Many of the connectors under the seat are not used if you remove the power seats like I did. I simply tucked them off to the side under the carpet.
I made a simple heat sink for the ignition amplifier and mounted it on the floor behind the seat.
My seats are Recaro Profi XL and I used the cross bar that Porsche uses for a 996 GT3 under the seat for my crotch belts. I could have installed rings though.
