there's an earlier topic on the oil level guage but felt this was worthy of a seperate post.

I may have fallen victim to this last week. my oil level guage showed very low. i checked the dipstick and and the level was below the 1/2 point of the 2 marks - about 1/3+. i added 1 quart - SLOWLY while motor was running & warm to give it a chance to register also several d-stick rechecks. anyhow i probably didn't give it enough time as now the oil level on the stick is 2/3+ - 3/4 from the top. the level guage now shows just shy of max full (not concerned about the guage though).

based on the reading from my dipstick - is this an overfill or worthy of concern?? what consequences could result?

Sounds like you got it just right. Read the owner's manual it gives a good explaination of the oil level checking process.
