Default A few pictures from the Malibu->Cold Springs Tavern cruise

What a great day. I met the larger group in Moorpark, so I missed the Malibu canyon run (and I missed getting up at 5:30am... yawn). About 30 cars total. We went backroads to Ojai and then over to Santa Barbara. We met at Phil's Volvo dealship where we were greeted with donuts (don't tell my wife) and coffee. Phil was great, but was busy selling cars, and couldn't go with us. We left the dealership and went up San Marcos Pass to Cold Springs Tavern, a satgecoach stop from the 1860s. Fantastic tri-tip sanwiches.

Only mishaps: A minor bumper scrape in stop-and-go traffic on the 101 coming home, a CEL on the rental Mercedes, and a flat tire on a 944. I hope that the 993 is OK, and we get a status report real soon.

I will post a few of my favorite pictures. This one is at the Moorpark meeting spot:

We had guys come down from Cupertino and from Pismo Beach. But the winner in the long-distance contest came out from Chicago to join us. I wish I could remeber everyone's name. Here is some of us at Cold Springs Tavern:

For some reason, I am really taken with this bridge, which now allows traffic to bypass Cold Springs Tavern and Stagecoach Road. What do you think?

Lastly, this is an artsy-fartsy version of a bridge shot:

I had a great time meeting such a great group of Rennlisters. Fred, as usual, did an incredible job of leading the pack. Next time... the "North vs South Rumble", to be held on June 5th. Stayed tuned to this channel for late-breaking updates.

John,

Get on out to California for the big "North vs South Rumble" on June 5th. NorCal and SoCal Rennlisters are gonna meet in the middle and settle once and for all, who can gather the largest group of Porsche crazy people. You don't want to miss this one. There is some talk of getting a block of rooms at the "Blue-Bird lodge" in Cambria for those that want to stay the night, though San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles are also in the running. News as it (big red) breaks. Stay tuned.

Well - see - this would create a problem for me - not being North or South? Can I referee?? Take on the "winner"? Can I drive something - besides a rental???

Oh - this could be way to complicated for me!!!!

Seriously - my thanks...! I just chatted with Jen about it...

Thanks for the invitation, Steve!!!!

(Oh - BTW - if I do come out - I would drive VERY SLOWLY, being the East Coast HWFMR representative.. Is that OK? Anyone with Forzen Rotors out there??

Nice pictures Steve. Very nice. Your car looks great. I see a '73 RS bodied car-I believe it has a different duck tail than the RS, though.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. One of these days I'm gonna have to drive my car to the west coast and take one of these drives on those beautiful roads.

John,

As much as I'd like to have you on the SoCal "team", I think that may put you in an awkard position... you being the Rennlist king and all. I think referee and official "crazy Porsche person counter" would be more appropriate. I just checked with Beverly Hills Exotic Car Rental... you can pick up a 996TT for a mere $900/day. Oh, I'm having just a bit of trouble with the "forzen rotors"... I'm thinking you may want to change your HWFM Racing title to that new spelling!

Beautiful day....too much traffic on the 154 up to Cold Springs. Always an idiot that wants to block traffic. But it sure beats mowing the lawn.

Thanks to Phil for providing parking, coffee and doughnuts - nice after you have driven over 5 hours to get there. My drive was down 101, back on the coast 1. Really nice to see all you guys again. Put me down for June 5th or whenever.
