John,
I don't know anyone in your area, but you can route the wires under the a-pillar trim. The piece will pop off by pulling on it. Get a finger under it near the headliner and give a tug. It will offer some resistance. It just snaps in and out. The trick for the wiring might be routing it up from under the dash to the a-pillar. You can use a wire coathanger as a fish tape. Probe around from the top until it finds a path to below the dash, then tape the wires to it and pull it through. If you don't have the confidence to do it yourself, a radio/CD player sales/installer could do it for you. Check out Best Buy or Circuit City.
By the way, I gave up on radar detectors years ago, too many false alarms. Getting busted is more a matter of judgement (when and where to stretch out) and luck. Most counties have judicial deferment programs (probation for a fee). Besides, it's best to get your high end motoring kicks at DE's.
