I've been looking for a 993 for a little while, have owned a 1989 and 2009 but feel the 993 should split the difference between the older and newer generations.
I've noticed a few used ones I've seen online have what looks like an aftermarket pigtail connection circled in red below, does anyone know what that is? A used car dealer had one but they had no idea and didn't respond to me asking if there were any labels or part numbers on it. (the below one is on BaT right now: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-carrera-4-16/)
This is an original harness adapter. Some 993's have this installed from factory, probably due to changes of the vacuum valve part and it's connector type.
Cheers,
Tore
The Vacuum control solenoid pictured looks very much like the VW Jetta part of the same function. Its housing is black plastic vs the metal ones seen on most 993. It may have also been an aftermarket changeover. Testing it for functionality is quite easy.
See the procedure at the bottom of this page: https://993servicerepair.blogspot.co...r-robbing.html
Hope this helps,
Andy
