I've checked the archives and found some very interesting info on spacers, but I still have a question.
Would adding 5mm spacers all around on a 95 993 with factory 17" improve aesthetics, or is 5mm really not enough? What about 10mm?
BTY, spacers would be used for street only. For track, they come off.
This is the widest I'd consider. Not interested in spacers w/ bolts (>15mm?).

I have spacers of widths 1/8" (3mm), 1/4" (6mm), and 5/16" (8mm) used for clearance adjustments. I don't think 5mm would be very noticable. 10mm might be noticable to you, but maybe not to others. Whether sticking out more is aesthetically pleasing is a matter of personal preference. Sticking out more has to be weighed against the aesthetics of showing more chips, tar, and other trash on the finish low behind the fender well.

I've got 7mm spacers all around on a narrow body 993 with 17" factory wheels, the rears look good, would look odd (to me at least) if they were further out, but the fronts still look to be tucked under the wheel arch a bit further than might be best aesthetically.

At what width spacer do you have to get longer studs fitted? Also, I heard it was better to swap your aluminum wheel nuts for steal when using spacers, is that the case?
Thanks,
Dylan.

Safety freaks say you need about 9 turns of the OE alum lug nut for secure thread engagement. With OE studs and 7mm spacers, thread engagement probably comes up a little short using the OE lug nuts, but it would probably be secure using steel lug nuts. That's because only 1 X stud diameter of thread engagement is needed using steel lug nuts, but 1.5 X stud diameter of thread engagement is needed using OE lug nuts. I don't know any of this from direct experience; I just read and listen. I have 1/4" spacers, 56mm studs, and steel lug nuts, so I guess I'm one of those safety freaks.

Hi,
does anyone know if 10mm spacers are compatible with m030 suspension as I am thinking of changing to this?
With standard ROW ie non us springs I very occasionally get rubbing when going over bumps at high speed.
Thanks
Tito
