Hi Rob,
Try www.1010tires.com. Its like Tire Rack but its based in B.C, Canada. The prices for the Toto's are about $186US ($247 CDN) , and the Kuhmo's at $153US ($202 CDN).
His price for the Toyo's is too high but his Kuhmo's is cheaper. This site has ratings for each tire as well...the Kuhmo's did not rate well but it could be from its selected audience.
Cheers,
Mike

Hey Rob - I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for", especially when it comes to tires. The money you save will be insignificant if you have to take evasive action and the tires don't stick...

Mike - I really don't go thru street tires very quickly, so my experience is limited. I presently have Toyo Proxes FZ4's. They came on the front when I got the car two+ years ago, so I matched them for the rear. I would rate them as average (good for the $). I also have a set of BFG T/A KD's that are excellent (almost as good as track tires), but they are high $.

Bob, the reason I asked the question is that I go through _a lot_ of street tires. I absolutely agree with your assesements of both FZ4 and KD.
I, however, disagree that you get what you pay for in tires. My absolute favorite street tire today is Falken Azenis which is less than 1/2 the price of KD and grips about as well. In that vein I would (and did) take Kumho MX over assorted Michelins available on the market today. I think a lot of money is spent on marketing tires and they are priced accordingly.

Mike - good advice. Unfortunatell, by the time I'll need new street tires, I will have forgoten all about this. I had my 84 for 8 years, and replaced the street tires once (6 months before I sold it)!

Mike J, thanks for the info, I will do some checking. Joe, starting to think I better just stick to the TS1's, but if I don't front tires are yours and Bob your probably right about that. I am sure if I doing some speed driving and a Moose decides to cross the road, I will appreciate the the tire stick more than anything.

Rob,
The I've heard the TS1 is an outstanding tire, and a friend of mine who does lots of SCCA swears by his RA1s, so I'm sure you'll do fine.
I do object, however, to the suggestion (by Bob at Crimson Nape...no ofense, sir
) that either of the Yokos or Kumho MX is somehow an "inferior" tire that provides less a margin of safety simply because they are less expensive. The aforementioned tires got excellent reviews from TireRack's TireTest articles, a much more objective and reliable standard than any of our opinions here, and they are highly reputable names in the business, as well. Now I did concede that you'd be trading "some" ultimate grip with the ES100, but I also mentioned that this is a trade off that you walk into knowingly, and NOT an unreasonable tradeoff since the ES100 (and other tires in that "Ultra-high Performance" bracket --TireRack's own nomenclature) I'm certain will provide excellent grip with a good margin for emergency manuvers. After all, we're not talking about 80,000 mile all-season radials here. And if I may offer, too, that quite a few here have glowingly recommended the Bridge 730s ("only" an "UltraHigh-perf" tire) for street use, and now that tire has been superseded by the 750 which is, too, getting good write ups. I suppose my point here is to say that paying top dollar for the most sexy, high-grip tire isn't necessarily the best option for everybody, nor is it the safest tire. Just my two cents, and you may take it for what it's worth. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
