This car dons not look good, water marks on the dash, and corrosion in the door latch. Has it been underwater or spent its life by the sea? If the best photos can't even make the finish or interior surfaces look reasonably good stay away!
Also, my car was originally offered as a Carrera S, a 1996, it even was on the title. I informed the seller it wasn't, turned out to be in excellent condition at a good price anyway so I purchased it and have been very happy. Fixed the description when I had it retitled.

Andy ;-)

Maybe it came factory with the turbo wing but not the turbo body and they leaning on that to call it a widebody while the rest of the world looks looks are the fenders.
I know of no wide body shells used for narrow-body cars. The turbo whale tail was an aftermarket addition -- not uncommon for 993s.
As many have stated, this car doesn't look like it was well cared for, with heavy and obvious patina all over inside and out.
Usually, when an owner did not care for the appearance, you can bet the same treatment went to the mechanicals.
I won't waste money on a PPI as this is at best a low to mid $40's specimen.

What about those 10 wide body cabs that were special ordered for Beverly Hills Porsche? Or maybe they were C2S with their roofs cut off.

I agree - PPI is a waste of money here. Even a clean PPI would not make me feel good about it. The seller doesn't inspire confidence either. A sad sight.

As I understand it, those cars started as factory cabs, then BH Porsche installed factory widebody fenders. There is also a conversion that was in San Francisco done by a Rennlister, from what I recall, it also used OEM WB fenders. Not sure what happened to that car, there is a thread somewhere in the archives, was well done.

Around the same mileage, cheaper and looks to be in vastly better condition. Didn't have to look very long or very hard.

G

As stated in AD .... “Excellent Cond” with 92k miles on it

Well well well, doesn't take long. Said car's asking dropped from $56.75k to a hair below $50k. Tells us how much margin dealers can simply 'throw away' and still make a decent buck.

Still think this car is a $42-43k deal assuming some but no serious work needed.

From what I understand the car is on consignment and the owner wants $50k for it. I think the owner and dealer will need to have a discussion about that price still.

Chances that the car looks like a basket case on the inside and outside but mechanically has been completely looked after? I mean it COULD happen but it seems more likely it's also neglected mechanically also.
