Hi, Dave
It will be a little hard to test your theory with a cassette as they no longer exist.

How well do headlight washers work? I never used mine. Do they really clean the headlights?

No, they don’t. Instead they leave a trail of crud up your hood. I used them once and vowed never again. Leaving them in saved me enough for another set of RE71’s
hadnt even thought I’d them until you mentioned.

Andy, I still have a box of Maxell XL-90s if you need one. Can put some tunes on with the Nakamichi too if you like. 😀

only ever used mine once. Night I bought the car driving down I-10 in Texas. I kept hitting them and wondering what did that do? Then I saw a little mist in the lights and was like oh headlight washers, neat. Then I stopped and realized my car was covered in washer fluid. Never used again

Andy,

Cassettes are retromod again, bought this new in 2019. Time to put the CR-1 back in!

Makes me really wish the CR-1 was selling for less

I have no idea how we transitioned from headlight washers to cassettes, but I have a CR-1 factory cassette player and I would love to listen to cassettes. Where can I buy them?
My other cars have the original eight track tape players, all of which work. I was fortunate and someone gave me several shoe boxes of 8 tracks, including the Stones, David Bowie, Crosby, Stills and Nash, etc. I drive the cars and listen to the eight tracks and between songs you hear a click and a pause, before the next song plays. Cassettes are better. You can listen to an entire side before reversing the cassette.....

I'd like to add the "auto-antenna" function on radios in cars with power antennas -- insists that a power antenna goes UP whenever you turn on the radio -- even if you're using an MP3 player, USB or AUX-IN port, or Bluetooth.
In my 66 Mustang, I inserted an OFF/ON switch so the antenna won't move unless I tell it to: "Sit, Stay"
I did the same thing on our 84' Carrera after I replaced the worn out original antenna with a new OEM part ($$$) I was not using the radio except to run the CD player.

Not a fan of headlight washers. Used once by mistake on my clean Cayman R and the result was a hood full of washer fluid. Yuck.

I try very hard not to use them on any car and think it’s an unsightly option that makes no sense. If headlights really need cleaning, spraying some fluid probably won’t make a big difference. If I could delete from a build at zero cost I would check that box every time.

Yes, even worse when your car is clean and you hit that switch by accident! That's why I pulled the relay and put it in a drawer. Then I realized that switch could be used to operate something else and is already wired to the relay panel. I use it to operate my garage door via a HomeLink module in the frunk. https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-easy-diy.html

The only time headlight washers worked out for me was with the bmw in a snowstorm at night with salty slushy roads, headlights started going to zero, the washers cleaned it up and improved visibility immensely. My porsche will never see such conditions!
