Default Suspension Upgrade with RS parts

Hi Everyone:

So, I bit the bullet and decided to do a complete suspension system overhaul to my original (and tired) suspension system on my 95 C2 coupe. Here is the scope of the work I am doing:

Front Suspension:
  • Replace OE Strut Mounts
  • Install KW v3 coilovers
  • Install OE RS sway bar
  • Install Tarett (RS) droplinks
  • Install OE RS uprights / Wheel Bearings
  • Install OE RS tie rods
  • Replace Front Control Arm bushings (Elephant Racing - Sport Rubber)
  • Replace OE Ball Joints
Rear Suspension:
  • Replace OE Strut Mounts
  • Install KW v3 coilovers
  • nstall OE RS sway bar
  • Install Tarett (RS) droplinks
  • Replace Lateral Rods
I plan to lowered the car to RS +10mm height and wanted to eliminate as much bump steer as possible hence the RS uprights.

Here is my question>> I might change the caster and camber links in the rear to RS part numbers; is there anything I should factor in or can I do a simple swap from original parts?

RG

Doing the same thing - installing everything next week. Went with rear camber, KT arm, toe arms and lower control arms to finish it off. I'm having everything installed by a shop, so I didn't bother with the small parts that will be needed for installation.

If you aren't going RS ride height or below, you don't really need the uprights.

ok because for normal driving thats literally overkill and a hell of a bumpy ride for street driving.

Just finishing up my rear RS suspension at the moment. If you're doing the front RS uprights, would suggest Elephant solid sub-frame bushings too. It'll pull up the sub-frame assembly by about 10mm.

In addition to the RS arms, I also replaced the remaining OE arms, while I had everything taken apart. Good luck!

I'm doing a similar upgrade too with the KW HLS lift kit. Looking forward to seeing everyone's results.

Curious to know how much all of that hardware actually cost...

I know everyone has different tolerance levels but I have a similar setup to OP's plans, albeit with pss10 instead of kw v3, and it is not bad on the street with the shocks dialed down.

Also I agree with others that the RS uprights are unnecessary unless you want to go below RS +10. I am at RS height personally.

Agreed...comfort is in the eye of the beholder. I am staying away from monoballs by design.

I went back and forth between PSS10 and KWv3, ultimately I choose KW for their adjustability.

For the scope of work I listed, I’m in just over $10K for parts. Labor will run about two days worth in the shop. Not cheap, but I wanted to do it once and do it right instead of piecemeal.

Love the picture Ethan and your choice of parts. What brake system are you upgrading to?

They're Brembo 332 in the front as I recall, forget the size in the back. They're the largest I could get for the wheels I'm using. I didn't plan to go this far initially but since I have to pay for installation, I convinced myself (with help from my mechanic) to do the whole thing once. Marvin at Rennshop in Mt View Ca has been great, he's a perfectionist and cleaned the old parts to look like new. Cant wait to drive this thing once it's done.

Wow...sounds like Marvin and I should be friends. 😀

I’m down in SoCal and Darrin over at West End Alignment is doing my work.

Agreed...can’t wait to get the work done and drive the car

The RS KT and A arm are identical to normal except for the bushes, They can be id'd by a blue dot on the aluminum, as such they are a straight bolt in, but to work right you need both KT and A , an alternative is to just replace the bushes w/ sport rubber

Only thing that you might think about doing differently is to use RSR inner tire-rods, seen here

the RS have the same outer, but a stiffer rubber connection than stock, RSR has a mono-ball connection, oe are NLA but Tarett has a nice substitute

All the above makes for a very nice street car, way superior to stock if you like precise handling, JMO but all of them should have come from the factory like that.
