PCCM Volume Not Loud Enough?

While on this topic, where does one obtain the firmware update files to load onto the SD card to flash? I want to ensure I'm on the latest build for my PCCM, I know it's a couple years old.

I had the same issue with my new PCCM unit. The dealership that installed it finally agreed that it is a known issue and removed the radio and put my old one back in. I went through all the "tricks" I found online including adjustments on my phone. My experience was that anything coming to the radio over BT was too quiet (multiple passengers agreed with me) but the radio was very loud. It is a bad product, don't buy it.

The bad product is the iPhone. I have zero issues with my PCCM headunit and my Android device. No surprise there though. Apple not known for playing nice with devices outside their universe.

Yes, new firmware loads through the SD card, but Porsche isn’t making updates available to the customer. It’s only a dealer service item. I am still hoping we get the updates to fix the random trip odometer reset problem.

I have the same issue (not enough volume) with the stock unit.

12 Volt Line Level Amplifier -
The new PCCA head unit and the OEM Nokia amplifier's "gain structure" is where the insufficient volume is born. A 12V line driver (amplifier) would remedy the lack of gain.
As only one example: http://www.audiocontrol.com/car-audi...rs/matrix-plus ..@ $165. street price..
I'm sure there are el-cheapo version "Line Drivers" out there in the 12 Volt world.. At the time of this post, there are several Audio Control Matrix Plus (New) line drivers offered at $149.00 on Ebay.com
The Audio Control model is a high-quality type.. Again, an el-cheapo unit would do the trick ... MY.02

It has been a while since this thread was started but I am having the same issue - FM tuner gets loud as hell - so loud you can't max at 30 without putting speakers at risk- then the same exact song on car play /Spotify at max doesn't even come close to half the volume of the tuner - bumping this thread to see if anyone hopefully figured out a solution

^This is usually due to the transmitting source being too low. Suggest you verify volume on your connected device.

Replace the speakers with lower Ohm models. The OE Nokia’s are oddly high.

A couple months ago, I installed the new CarPlay PCCM in my car, which has the HiFi sound package and the Nokia amp. Everything plugged in and worked great, except the volume doesn't seem to get very loud. The PCCM maxes out at 30 and I think it's quieter than the stock Becker radio... does anyone else have this issue?
I had the same problem on my 993. It turns out it's probably an iPhone issue. I tried and tried and finally gave up. I ended up putting a Kenwood unit into it and returned the radio. There are multiple replies to this problem, and the only fellow I ever saw that didn't have a problem was using android not Apple. Apple intentionally does not let the volume on its devices get very high so that people can't damage her ears. Unfortunately for this radio it makes it unusable for hands-free use or listen to music anything louder than normal conversation.
Plus it's super expensive. You can slide in a nice Kenwood for less than $300 and it will work great. I think Blaupunkt also has a retro kind of radio and I haven't been able to find lately.

Hi Eric,
If all the above doesn't work one can consider adding an equalizer that includes an overall volume adjustment placed in line between the head and the power amplifier to possibly boost the output of the head to better drive the power amp.
This is assuming:
--Your speakers are in good shape and the cones are not torn or the surrounds detached significantly lowering their efficiency, something to expect if the speakers in your car are original.
-- If using the Nokia amp ends up distorting when driven harder by an inline equalizer an aftermarket power amp under the seat can be considered.
