Default ISV 95

Have to fix the soundproofing on my 1995 as it is ratty. Is that a good time to clean out the ISV or just replace it. Prices all over the place from over $440 to just over $200

Clean it. There are several threads about the cleaning, about a 1 out of 10 in difficulty.

The $200 + valve never really needs to be replaced as it is easily cleaned with carb & choke spray cleaner.
Make sure when you reattach the valve's electrical plug the seal in the base of the socket is fully seated so the plug seats fully.

Did mine yesterday. Easy pPasy. Use a short philips head screwdriver to get back there.
I started with Simple Green and a bunch of Q-tips and paper shop towels. A little brake cleaner works well.
After all cleaned and dry I use a tad bit of WD-40 to lubricate.
Another good rule of thumb is to clean when you drop your oil each year.

Dryfly57 how did you get to the hose clamp closest to the front of the car (#4 on Bruce7's diagram)? My clamps are facing the driver's side, and the #4 clamp is angled downward. Access is blocked by the rubber strap that holds the valve in. Can this be cleaned while still installed? Not ideal but any harm?

Did it. It wasn't 5 minutes, more like 45 (probably because of the thumbs and the orientation of the clamp). Discovered my rubber sleeve was missing the metal clip on top that keeps the party together. Made for a lot swearing because the sleeve kept moving out of the bracket when trying to re-install the valve. Also, getting the hose closest to the front of the car on was no picnic. Made for bloody knuckles and bruised ego. But now my clamps are facing the right way for when I have to do it again when the new sleeve arrives.

Good news is that my idle is much smoother and settles in at about 750-800, and no CEL for random misfires.

I thank you all, my knuckles do not though.
