Default CCU Question

I've noticed I'm having the same issue as many others have posted over the years. My CCU doesn't function correctly with the MAX AC button and in fact, even the fan speed **** doesn't work well either. Sometimes if it's on speed 4, it only runs slowly. But, when I push on the CCU faceplate it does run at the correct speeds.

I found through search, many others with the same issues, but nobody ever saying what they did to fix it of if they even fixed it.

So, is there anyone who had this problem and fixed it. Other than sending the CCU out to be repaired. given that it works properly when pushing on the faceplate i have to assume a lose connections or bad solder joint.

Thanks for any help.

The CCU is OBD Compliant, run the codes and you will most likely see where your problem lies.

Yes, loose connections, button contacts internally worn, you name it. I had the same issues for years - pressing on the case or hitting a bump would cause functions to magically work. Tried all the DIY fixes like contact cleaner, reseat connections. Too afraid to ever open up that box!!

Finally last fall sent to Tore in Norway. The unit was repaired to new and better, lights replaced, new circulating fan installed and the whole unit upgraded. I have a post here from late last year. Do a search on my name.

Tore is the expert - send to anyone else at your own risk. Go to his website to learn more. Goggle on “Bergville CCU Restoration”.

Shipping and lead times may be may be an issue (Covid) but you can email Tore directly. Do it over the winter storage to avoid down time.

You can contact me directly if you want to chat. I can’t urge you enough - don’t let anyone else **** with your CCU. To paraphrase the line from the “Princess Bride”, “don’t fall for one of the classic blunders - the first of which is never get involved in a land war in Asia. The second is don’t let anyone besides Tore touch your CCU”.

I crack myself up sometimes.

Remove the face place assembly, an easy connector unplug, and carefully re-solder the circuit board where the switches attach.
It's that simple! Remember, the CCU for the most part is very reliable, with the exception of a few problems like this.
Read here; http://www.systemsc.com/problems.htm under Porsche, CCU 964/993

That's currently my plan, There are dismantle instructions on Tore's website. Probably do it towards the end of this coming week.

Just need to finish up with the radio swap and Homelink install.

Thanks

Keep in mind the CCU will shut down certain controls when it sees unexpected behavior in external components controlled by it. So at some point, you will still want to run the OBD Codes to verify the components the CCU controls are working properly.

Yes, I agree. but first I want to deal with the basics and ensure the fan speed runs correctly and doesn't change when I touch/press the faceplate.
