Default Thinking of selling, am I going to regret it?

I have always imagined my self as a collector of cars, I finally am starting to build a nice little collection and feel a little guilty with my 993 sitting still so often. My barn also contains a 2020 m2 as a daily driver and a 2017 corvette grandsport as a track Car / gt cruiser. I am not finding myself driving the 993 and feel a little guilty letting her sit there. The car has always been so reliable, I am afraid things are going to start drying out if it doesn’t get driven enough. The 993 was my first sports car and it has been very sentimental to me. Curious if anyone has been down this road before and regretted it.

Unless you need the green or the space keep it. Last of the breed and irreplaceable. Mine is relegated to garage queen status since I have the 997 to drive - the 993 gets driven enough to ward off any issues. Doesn’t take much. 18 years of ownership.

How often do you think it should be taken out to keep her in good shape?

Hate to say if you get rid of the 993 you are no longer a Collector of Cars!

I wouldn't feel guilty about not driving it. Plenty of these cars are not driven often. I think ideally you would take the car out monthly for a 30 mins drive just to keep everything fresh. I would keep it though. Don't sell unless you have to.

The truth is you will always regret selling it. Does not mean you shouldn’t do it though. There’s more than one of my past cars I miss dearly but if not for creating an opening I would not have gotten to experience the ones that followed. Sounds like your corvette replaced the 993 you just haven’t accepted that yet. In an ideal world you get to keep em all but that’s just not reality. Go drive the 993, corvette and M2 within a few days of each other. Pick two to keep.

I need to heed my own advice. I have 3 street cars and 2 track cars.

If you are driving a Corvette more than the 993, you should sell the 993...

I sold my first 930 after a few years from our first child being born. Wife put a little pressure on and I caved. I always said I would never, ever ever sell that car. Well, i did. 10 years later I bought another 930 this time an even better one and said I will never, never ever ever sell this one.

Well i did when price went through the roof and frankly while I loved the car it was more art than road car. Not super friendly to drive around town and the wife hated both.

I have a small fleet of cars and I have now learned to enjoy them all, and when I get bored I sell and buy something else and continue the cycle

Move on and enjoy

So little time so little garage space

Four car garage with lift and mancave

Trying to stay married so I think I am now at my limit

I sold my '68 912 and regret that. But, it allowed me to by my '79 911SC. Sold that and regret it often. But, it allowed me to buy my 34' sailboat which I sailed from Cyprus to Colombia over the course of about 20 years. Don't regret that. Point is... yes, you'll regret it, but fair winds ahead!

Lots depends on where you live and garage storage conditions. Monthly is great even just to warm it thoroughly. If the storage is heated and clean and dry that’s a big advantage. My car might see 500 miles April to November than zero but it’s stored properly. No sitting issues whatsoever. I do use Tire Cradles for winter storage and they work.

Not under any pressure to sell it, just felt a little glutinous having 3 sports cars. I am sure I will miss it, if I let it go. It went over night from being my prized possession to number 3 in my little stable of 3. 1st world problems, I think my youngest son would be very disappointed in me if I let her go, he always says it’s the car with the most character

I think if you can keep it, do. There's nothing wrong with letting it sit for awhile. If you are finding that it's not doing it for you & you might want to try something new, then, maybe, sell it.

I bought my first 911 in 1990 & had it for 10 years. I only sold it to help buy a house. I sure would love to have it now & I certainly do regret it. I've had a chance to own some other cars by selling, though.
One thing I've noticed (and I was just talking to my wife about this) is, I drove it & enjoyed it more in the 90's because I had less responsibilities, I was going out more & I wasn't married, so I was always driving it to my girlfriend's.

Now, with being married to that girlfriend, work & more traffic, I just don't get it out as much. Lately I've had more fun getting our '63 Beetle out.

Maybe it's just the pandemic isolation talking!

I'll hang on to mine for now.......
