Hi Andy,

My Interstate battery from Costco came with a tiny plug, so that one of the two ventilation ports could be plugged off, depending on location of the car's vent hose.

Good tip on checking the water level. Thanks!

And just one more piece of advice!
Buy a new battery if the one you have is more than five years old!

Lots and lots of threads from people having problems with their cars and they don't realise that batteries don't last forever!

Yes, batteries give a subtle warning as there cranking amperage diminishes. All things being equal the starter will seem to hesitate or struggle a little bit as the battery gets near its end of life. Also, one or two complete discharge cycles from running a battery down seem to knock a year or two off a battery's life. A fella from a battery manufacturer once told me a battery with adequate space around and below the plates that let contaminants and precipitates fall clear would result in a battery that would last the life of the car. Then again if a battery was truly a "Die Hard" as being constructed in this way the entire aftermarket battery industry would disappear, something it really is not interested in doing.
