A few thoughts:

• I hope he's on this forum.
• If the owner ever sells, that car definitely deserves a premium. With how he treats the skin, one can only imagine how well the mechanicals are tended to.
• I'd not want to drive the car after that kind of detailing. The thought of getting any dirt on it...
• No tire dressing, after all these meticulous steps...?

Meticulous attention in everything ... even how he held the bottle of ceramic coating to be sure it wouldn’t spill (around 14:16). But, was it just me or did he miss washing the passenger front fender and half the hood (around 8:11)?

$5K for a full detail seems about right, since the pros start at about $100-125 hour. I have always expected to spend 40 hours on a reasonably clean car to have it clean enough for a local club show. To show at a Parade it takes 100s of hours. (I sort of gave up doing PCA shows as you work very hard, spend several dollar to have people tell you how bad your cars is.) Of the 40 hours, I use these estimates to schedule my time. 18 hours of it will be spent below the door handles: the lower body paint takes a lot of care, and then there are the wheels/tires, brakes, suspension, fender wheels, engine trays, exhaust, bottom of bumpers, and rocker areas. Interior will take 6-8 hours, bottom of doors, and removing seats takes time but worth it. Frunk is a 2-3 hour job, carpet out spare, jack, clean battery and wires, clean or organize tool kit, and clean air compressor. Engine is about 4-6 hours, on a 993, removing airbag and partially the blower assembly allows access to the far reaches of the engine. Then the upper body usually take 2-3 hours since it has normally been cleaned and waxed regularly. The good thing is once the detailing is done, to keep it up only takes a few hours until you out driving in the rain.

To each his own on how to spend time. I wouldn't mind learning how to do some of this stuff, but I prefer driving over cleaning.

It becomes more than a nightmare, the last one I did was a 356 outlaw for Werkes Reunion, 70 hours prep, since then I just keep my cars clean enough to not be embarrassed but leave the concours detailing to others.

My 993 is so dirty I get flak from people with $1500 BMWs. I washed it well once, put on an absurd amount of wax, and now just try to keep nasty stuff off the paint. Thankfully, the wax keeps the bad stuff from doing any damage. Oh, and I put 303 convertible top protectant on the cab top. Highly recommended. Took a few coats though.
