Installing a DAS rollbar, and have some questions

I got started installing my rollbar and harnesses today for road atlanta next weekend and have some questions on the DAS install for anyone who has done one. Mine didn't arrive w/ any instructions for some reason, and even though its a pretty straightforward install, I've come up on some detail items I'd like to be more sure of before I button it all back up together. Here goes:

1. On the main bar mount, there is a plastic vent between the cabin and the wheel well. It has a one way flapper valve so I'm not sure if I should leave it open, or duct tape it off (leaning toward sealing it off)

2. On this same mount, the ends do not fit snugly against the sides of the car, and the bolt supplied is about 1/4" less in diameter than the hole in the mount. So, there seems to be a lot of play. Is there supposed to be some kind of shim for this?

3. And finally, the seatbelt retractor has to sit at a certain angle to allow for retraction. The factory event has a pin so there is no mistake in setting this angle. But, the mount covers the hole the pin inserts into. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help. If all fails, I can get the directions and my questions answered from DAS on monday. I don't mind keeping everyone posted on what I find, if anyone is interested in putting one of these bars in.

Thanks,
David

I share your concern on the flapper box; I left mine off (DAS confirmed that's necessary) but didn't duct-tape over the hole. One idea is it's to allow pressure to escape when closing the door w. the windows closed. Also, when it's hot & the interior air expands, you don't want the interior too tight. These are guesses, mind you.

I don't remember there being a whole lot of space between the outer face of the horizontal bar's mounting flange & the inner side of the B pillars. If you wanted to use a large washer or two, I'm not sure that would hurt anything. The main forces are down onto the rocker panel.

As far as the seat belt retractor's orientation, I just eyeballed it & held it in place as best I could while tightening the bolt. 18 months, haven't had any problems w. the reel.

David,
I have the DAS rollbar on order, so I would be very interested in the results of your enquiries with the makers?

Thanks in advance,
Dylan.

p.s. I believe Martin S. over here on the West Coast (or is that Left Coast) has installed the DAS bar, maybe he has some insight?
