Not the most exciting post. Nor, the most informative. But, the 993 turned 50,000 miles today. I've only put a little over 4,100 miles on the 993 in the last two years I've owned it. But, it was in the shop for several months while having a top end and other work done. If I want to break 100.000 miles I am going to have to do some trips in her. Not a bad idea.

Curious: What drove the need for a top-end rebuild under 50K?

Valves guides. Wasn't that big of a deal. The PPI missed the valve issue (& a few other issues) but identified enough that I knew I would have to have some work done on the engine. As a result I have an engine that I know is solid as a rock and with the right care and maintenance schedule will out last me.

Congrats Chuck! My 993 has been a fantastic long-haul machine that has never left me stranded. These are very robust cars.
I find it's hard to find the time to put on the miles, but it's well worth it. I drove to New Brunswick from Toronto last summer and it was a blast. Driving through upstate Maine was spectacular. The road from the Quebec border through the woods in Maine was a highlight. I have 120,000 miles and the car drives just fine.

Mine had a top end done early as well (i.e., around the same low mileage). I'm not a professional wrench by any means, but age can be a proxy as is mileage for top ends, though the latter is probably the more common timing...

Cool. I'm not too far behind you on mileage so I was wondering what I might have to look forward to!
Congrats Chuck! Trust a retired Cop to make sure not to post a picture of the speedo hitting 50K while the car is moving.... Enjoy in good health - such a cool and unique 993.
How could you?! This is horrible! These are not driving cars, these are looking cars. To think you drive and enjoy your car! The nerve of some people! Lol! Awesome work. I haven't seen you around the alley. My black TTS is about to hit 50k! I can't believe it hasn't spontaneously combusted. I'm sure somewhere someone just collapsed.
