I think that You have just to drive Your car few months to get used with it. Piece by piece You learn all the odd things. OPC serviced Your car lately, it should be ok.

I remember how I rushed to gas station to top up my oil level because of lack of knowledge how to read oil level gauge. It was my first day with Porsche. I remember my concerns back then.

I have found that when I just putz around town, I get 600-800 miles and need a quart. However, I recently went on a road trip from SF to Vegas to LA to SF, and found that my oil consumption went way down. I have read on this thread that getting on her really reduces the need for oil, and I have found that to be true, at least on this one data point. And allegedly doing 110 across the desert of course had nothing to do with it... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Also, make sure you are looking at the right guage:
The oil pressure will fluctuate b/w like 3&5, the oil tempurature b/w 8 o'clock & 10 o'clock, and the oil level goes all over the guage...that is the one where you have to be perfectly level, engine warm but not super hot...then it is a pretty good reflection of what will be on the dipstick.

Remember that these cars have like 12 quarts of oil...so heat really does affect it as the oil expands a bit as it heats...this is true in all cars, but most only have like 4 quarts so you just never really notice it.

I personally never wig about the oil until I notice the level guage (when warm & very level) about to dip into the red. Then I take a peek at the dipstick and see what is up.

Also be careful not to OVERfill...since it does expand, I have heard nasty stories of people having an engine bay full of overflowing oil because they checked the dipstick when not level and added too much oil.

Finally, when you do add oil...add it SLOWLY. It just doesn't take it as fast as other cars, and you can make a big mess.

Good luck.
