Acually I was looking for a aircooled Porsche 911 Coupé with a manual transmission , I like the looks of a claasic 911T, 911L and 911S but the ones for sale needed to much work and are overpriced.
So I decided too look to younger Porsches, im not so fond of the 911SC, i like the 964 but really love the looks of the 993.
When I started reading books and forums It came clear that the 993 is the best 911 of all worlds.
Its aircooled, has the best handling, power steering, airconditioning and more power then the classic porsches.
So i have visited some Porshe specialists but did not find what I was looking for.
So I visited a cardealer who loves Porsches and has a private collection of Porsches, I told him that I was looking for a aircooled Porsche and that I would like to see his private collection.
So has a 997, boxter and some nice Caymans, then he shows me two 911SC in perfect condition, one of them was prepared for racing on the track.
Then he had a nice 964 on the side, and then I saw something in a dark corner. I asked him " whats that in the corner? is that a 993?"
He answered " Yes I bought it about 10 years ago, actually I bought two 993's, the other one was a turbo. The 993 turbo I prepared for track racing and have used it several times to race.
But this one drived pretty good actually, I drove it home parked it and it has been standing here ever since."
I could not beleive my ears, what a shame!
I asked him "Do you sell this car like it is standing here? You have many Porsches and can not fix them all"
He looked at me for a minute and then he replied what he would like to have for the car and showed me all the papers, complete maintenance book and incoices of the maintenance.
Then I called my brother in law, he owned many porsches and a asked his opinion.
Short after that I bought the car and asked not to wash the car, so the guy left of the dust as it was and brought the 993 home.
The interior is Red Flamenco, A bit too much red for me, I like the Red and black combination as seen in many cars. but red/red is a bit to much.
in the future im planning to clean the leather and ad some black in the dash, black steering wheel and add black floor mats.

Thank you all for your Posts, it seems like you guys are just so exited as i am.
Today i sprayed the top coat on the engine tin. looks great.
earlier this week I have sandblasted them, put a coat of cold galvanizing zinc, then a Automotive 2K primer coat, and today i wetsanded the parts with 1000 grid and sprayed 2 layers of Automotive 2K top coats.
they should last for Another 25 years now 😁
i will wait for 2 days so the lacquer can get hard enough to install them on the engine.

beautiful interior.
red and rootwood?
very special with the white gauges and red behind the gauges.
must have been special ordered.
the pillar is also red, what about the roof liner? red also?
even the dash window trim piece is red.
if you change to black please don't dye the parts,
buy used black dash and so on and sell the read pieces.
I'll be one of the buyers for your red parts, especially that upper dash and upper door trim.

How I found the car?
I was looking for a aircooled Porsche 911, i like the looks of the 991T, 991L and 911S but the ones for sale need a lot of work and are overpriced.
So I started to look some younger, i'm not so fond with the 911SC, I like the 964, but really love the looks of the 993. after reading many forums it seems like the 993 is the best car of all worlds.
I'ts a aircooled porsche, with the best handling, has power steering , AC and more power then the older Porches.
I went to a few porsche specialists, but did not find what i was looking for.
But when i visited a cardealer who loves porsches and has his own private collection, I told him i was looking for a aircooled porsche and would like to see his Porsches.
He had a 997, Boxter, a few nice Caymans, but then he showed me a two 911SC in mint condition one was prepared for racing on the track, then he had a 964 on the side.
And then in a lost corner i asked him "what about that one there? that seems to be a 993? "
he replied " Yes, I bought that one a long time a go, actually I bought two 993's, the other car was a turbo and i prepared the 993 turbo for driving on the track and have raced with it.
But this one drives pretty good actually, I drove it home, parked it, and it has been standing here ever since."
I could not beleive my ears? what a shame. I asked him "Is the 993 for sale? You have porsches enough, you can't fix them all, I would like to have him as it is."
He looked at me for a minute, and then replied what he would like to get from the car as i would take it as it is. Then he showed me all the papers, a complete service book and most of all the invoices of the maintenance. I called my brother in law who owned several Porsches and asked his opinion, and soon after that I bought my first Porsche.
I told him not to wash the car and leave the dust as it is, and this is how he brought the car home.
The interior is Flamenco Red, I like the Flamenco red and black combination of the most cars, but I have never seen a car completly in red like this one.
It is a bit too much red for my taste, (after the car is technical in good condition) I will clean all the leather and would like to add black floor mats, a black steering wheel and the center of the dash in black.

Red red red with the wood trim—so 90s—I love it! It’s too unique to break up imo. If you swap in some black save the unique red stuff.
try some black mats and see I’d that doesn’t help. I’d be tempted to see what a carbon fiber trim set (quality stuff from the German guy that made it for Porsche) would add to it and set aside the wood stuff. With the black exterior would look neat.

Everything is red, the roof liner, back seats, carpet, mats, glove compartment, only some dash ***** and the climate control unit are black.

So i found a black steering wheel with airbag, and a handbrake lever on the internet for a good price, these items can easily been swapped.
adding the black mats would be the next step.
i'm interessted about the carbon fiber parts, what do the look like and where do i find them?
