Measured my hp and torque today...
The measurements were carried out on a Bosch FLA 206 dynometer: <a href="http://www.bosch.de/prueftechnik/en/produkte/produktgruppen/04_leistungsmess_uebersicht.htm#fla206" target="_blank">Bosch dynometer FLA 206</a>
The procedure was to briefly shift from 1st, to second, then 6th for full acceleration to maximum. This was repeated 3 times. When the rev limiter took effect, the gear was disengaged and the motor progressively slowed down again. This was used to help determine the hp loss due to transmission, etc. A correction factor is calculated automatically by the system.
This is the resulting graphic:
(Interesting is how flat my torque curve has become...)

The figure normally quoted is:
"output 300 HP at 6500 rpm, torque 261.8 lb-ft at 5400 rpm"
in my case, 376.8 Nm = 278 lb-ft, and at 4780 rpm. The calculated HP of 301 is at 6250 rpm.

Forget the GT2 - I want that Audi Coupe Quattro Sport. 300 hp mid 80s group B rally homologation. Never imported into the US. I had an 83 Coupe Quattro turbo which was the little brother to the sport model. I still miss that car.

Interesting that they didn't do the power runs in 4th gear which is closest to the 1:1 transmission ratio.
When I had my car measured on a rolling road they did much the same i.e. let the dyno gear disengage to measure the transmission loss as the whole thing (dyno, transmission etc) coasted, but it was all done in 4th!
I suppose if the rr/dyno can accurately measure the transmission loss it doesn't matter what gear it's done in.
Phil, Don't they sound incredible in the enclosed space of a dyno room! I thought my car was going to explode as it hit the cut out, FANTASTIC.

EJ, I agree. Rally performers are loads of fun. I'm not familiar with that US version though. Was it seriously different from the Euro version in looks or performance or both? The Euro version was sweet in all respects.

993RS, What do you mean by 600hp GT2. Can you tell me more about mods just to satisfy curiousity - tuner, etc.? Any additional 959 dyno info? And thanks for the pics, dyno info and stats. Very interesting. A fitting end to a paint project. The oil incident made for a convincing start to a "new" (renewed) 993 ownership experience and maybe a cost effective way at that! Enjoy in good health.

Ran,
The GT2 mods were done by a Swiss tuner called "Sportec". For details on their tuning program: <a href="http://www.sportec.ch/" target="_blank">Sportec</a>
The GT2 was missing a part of the rear bumper, because they were still working on it.
