Question Euro bumper cover conversion cost...

Received my euro bumper cover\turbo S air ducts\clear side signals from Gert (1495. shipping included)...he is excellent to do business with and would reccomend him highly...I have received two estimates for: re-finishing the front spoiler (aero-kit turbo S chin spoiler), prep and painting the new bumper cover, and obviously taking apart and re-installing the ducts and side signals, also the sealing strips...total came to 1100. and change from each...sounds like a lot to me but the quality of the job is more important than the money...does this seem reasonable for a superior quality job??...thanks

Way too much.

Prep and paint should only cost about $350. That's how much I paid for the paint job for my bumper cover. The paint matched perfect.

As for swaping the bumper cover the estimated labor in doing that in no more than two hours.

It is an easy job which you can do it yourself. Check the DIY page in my web site for the bumper swap DIY. Just get the bumper cover painted and do the swap on your own. P-car.com

I am paying $500 for paint and install, if that helps, for the same thing. This is from a well-recommended bodyshop in LA.

that's too much. I had mine painted for $250. The rubber seals cost around $60 with POC discount, rivets ($14 - box), DIY took about 10 hours (it was too hot in the garage and the Lakers were on.

PS: Lonn, I've replied to your email earlier.

Lonn,

Looks like you've got some good quotes to go on. If you're interested in investigating this further, you might drop Jack in L.A. an e-mail. I believe he made the same upgrade as you.

Nice pics of his nice car & e-mail @ http://996tt.com/jf/

$300-$350 for refinishing the cover is about what I paid. Seals are ~25-30 ea. I used Robin's DIY and installed it. It is pretty straight forward

Just had a turbo cover installed on my C2 last week by the best body shop in the area.
Total cost including painting the back of the cover was $516.00. They did an excellent job (clearcoat black). With your extra work you may have to pay another $100.00 or so.

Good Luck

Anyone ever deal with peter from rennmotorsport out in Duarte, California? He sells factory new twin turbo (both U.S. and euro) bumber covers for 750.00 plus shipping.

Thank you to all who responded...you just saved me tons of cash...I do believe I will attempt to do the job myself to boot...thanks for the encouragement and (Robin) for the detailed DIY...if you happen to see a silver C2S driving around PA without a bumper cover, you'll know who it is

Yes, I got mine from Peter. Since I live nearby, I went and pick it up myself and drop it off at the body shop on the same day.
