I have owned my car since new. I replaced the top once (2010) since new. When I replaced the top, I also replaced the headliner, both cables and the elastic at the same time.
My top etc was replaced by an upolsterer with long term experience with Porsche Cabriolet's and has been in business over sixty (60) years.
I wouldn't dare touch the top to replace the headliner. Leave it to a professional.

I have to agree. This is one of those jobs that takes a special skill set.

How does the headliner attach? My top is excellent, but the headliner is a bit faded.

evilfij,

I am almost sure that the upholsterer sews the headliner. To be sure, contact Mark Spiro, Futureline or Mark from Accurate Interiors. Both shops do beautiful work. We are from the same area. If you need their addresses, phone numbers, or any other information, please email, call or send a private message.
I hope all is well!
