Default 993 RS BACK GLASS

Hello all hope some of you can help me out. I did a search and found a thread that listed this part number 993.545.107.07 for the 993 RS lightweight rear glass. In that thread the OP had a successful install of the rs glass but I could not find reference to what year 993 it was installed in. I checked with my local dealership and the part is available. However they could not confirm wether that part would work or not work in my 1995 993. My question/ concern is fitmit on a 1995. Does anyone know if there is any differences or changes in the size of the back glass on 993’s. Or have experience with using this part number on there 1995 993

Is there any downsides with the thinner RS glass? The weight saving is minimal..... If memory serves me diff is 7 vs 5 kg.

I just completed the sun roof delete as well as a few other changes to reduce weight and lower the center of gravity on the car. My glass was severally scratched and the trim that holds the outer rubber seal was broken. I have to replace mine so I figured why not just order the rs glass and shave off a little more weight and most importantly for me get rid off the defroster lines for a cleaner more modern look. I was just nervous about dropping $1400. On a glass without being 100% sure it was the correct part number and would fit.

What about using this Makrolon version? It isn't the original one, but it weights 2,4 kg, almost 4,6 less than the stock one and 2,6 less than the RS one.

Poly is a very different product than real glass. Not advisable unless you're committed to losing weight without concern for NVH.

I don't get your point: in making a track day 993, why should I be worried about noise issues?

With what all the lexan glasses cost (except the windshield which remains double-layer glass for safety), you can barely buy the rear windshield.

I already have all the original 993 glasses in the garage and one day, if I wanted to restore the originality, I can always do it, it is an easy replacement for the bodyshop.

But meanwhile this would save at least 10kg, which is, for the aim of such a car, way more important than noise concerns.

Does anyone know how much weight reduction can one gain from using a crank window lifter instead of electrical?
