Arrow HAR (Houston Area Rennlisters) Drive, Saturday March 13

Okay...It's been almost a year since we all got together for a nice little drive -- So I'm volunteering to organize one for the Houstonians on the morning of March 13. I've already checked the track schedule, and there are no events, so there are no excuses

Let's debate some routes here in this thread, and nail down the details. Here is what I propose (but feel free to make other suggestions):

Meet 8:30am at the Cinimark Theatre at I-10/99 in Katy. Go northwest from there...

Please come join us! And spread the word!

cheers,

sean

I think I'm in too! Are you thinking about heading towards Brenham? I would think there are some entertaining roads out that way, but I honestly don't know.

I'll try to make it! Where will we end up if we head north?

Why north? How about a drive down to Galveston for lunch?

I should be there with some NSX buddies. Think the car should be done by then.

I'm thinking of heading to Round-Top...there's a nice little Greasy Spoon up that way --- Plus they make great pies to take home to the significant other as penance...

Is that the place that was featured on foodtv a little while back? Owned by a family, only seats about 20 people, make their own pies every day? If that's the place and I don't take the wife, I might as well stay out there...

Damn!

Don't you guys have kids? The kiddos get out of school on Friday the 12th for Spring Break (KISD) and we're headed for Copper Mountain that day.

Maybe I'll catch you next year. I look forward to meeting some of the local Rennlisters.

By the way, 99 and I-10 is the exit for my drive home from downtown. Had to work late last night and was actually looking forward heading South on 99 on the drive home. It's a fun road to drive on when there's no traffic, but you got to be careful at the Fort Bend / Harris County boundary (near Cinco Ranch exit) where the Fort Bend Sherrifs love to nail you for speeding.

See you next year (or sooner?).

Tim,

I live just off Peek & 1093 in Grand Lakes...I hear you about 99 being a good place to run it out...Grin.

If we leave at 9am we should be at Round Top around 11-11:30...yep, it's the same restaurant.

It's just a great drive, I make it several times a year.

cheers,

sean

I'd like to make it too but we're expecting a new addition to the family this weekend so I'll have to see how things are going in 2 weeks. Sounds like fun though and it would be good to meet the Houston area Rennlisters.

I'll try to make it. My detailing business takes precedence over events unfortunately. I won’t know until a day or so before.

3090 and 159 around Navasota are pretty good. There are some roads around Magnolia, and Henry's Hideout is a fun place to stop for lunch out that way. That place in Round Top does have great pies, but watch out for tourists weaving around if the bluebonnets are out.

Unfortunately you really need to get into the hill country for the really world class roads, and there are lots out there from Llano all the way down past Kerrville. If you ever get out to Llano, go to Cooper's Pit BBQ and email me about 10lbs of brisket and sausage, I miss it bad!

Have fun,

Peter,

How do you know so much about the local Houston drives?
