Default Sloan Cars

I know there have been a number of threads on dealing with Sloan Cars ... I wanted to add a personal experience ... I have an 02 Targa that I was considering selling last year and I contacted Sloan (had not read any of the threads on him at that point)...I sent him a couple of pics which were subsequently posted on the site...I went back to the site periodically to just look at items posted...when I went tonight the pics of my car were gone...went to the recently sold section...guess what I found my car...I went downstairs to check the garage...yup it was still there...I realize I am getting a little older and somewhat forgetful but I think I would have remembered if I had in fact sold the car...now if I can just find my keys...

That is a real shame. What salesmen do just to make themselves look good. Only1Buck...now don't you wish you were close to Sloan so you can ask them WHY?

That's the 2nd story like this I've heard this week about Sloan. Seems to be a habit. Not to mention all the other stories......

IMO, this may be one of "those" vendors for that "list" we keep taking about.

I bought my "pristine" 97 TT from him
Its pristine now
he said it had less than 30K on the clock
showed up with 37K
He said it had a brand new $4K clutch in it
Clutch went out in 2 days.
drivers door strap was broken
Wheels had curb rash and gash in the tire
PPI siad there was 25% left on the front
brakes there is over 50% left DID he DO a PPI??
He said he owned it.
He had in on consignment
on and on.

I was told by a reputable Porsche locator that Sloan doesn't actually own any of his cars, although I have no idea if that's true.

I heard the same and I had a similar experience with Mr. Sloan. I choose NOT to buy from him due to differences between his descriptions and the reality of the vehicles in question.

He talks a good game but man I would NOT buy from him
again. On the flip side, because my car was not what
it was supposed to be, I was able to learn alot about
my car from working to getting in the shape it was supposed
to be and I have not been afraid to do some DIY's either.
Plus when it was apart for the clutch my mechanic and I
were able to assess the full mechanical condition of the car
and it was in good shape outside the clutch and I was able
to take care of some little things to get it into great shape.

Monkey I would not doubt that at all. He took 2 weeks to get me
my title AFTER I got the car, WHY??

I would be cautious of the other consigment shop - Par in NY. Sounded good over the phone and / or, but was in tired condition when seeing in person. But like anything else, good and bad, just you want the ratio to be higher in the good column.

When I was selling my '89 carrera, I was contacted by several consignment outfits who basically wanted to add 20% to my asking price for themselves - Which is why they won't let you talk to the PO.

I declined, and now I know I'd never buy a car on consignment.

I also went "round and round" with Sloan; I was trying to buy a car that after 3 weeks he couldn't seems to find the time for me to see it -- and I wasn't about to buy it "sight-unseen". I finally (and thankfully) gave up on him. I'm very glad in retrospect that I bought my car from someone else.
