Found car....96 993 price info?
Hi,
I've been looking for the right 993 C2 6 spd coupe for a while. I'm currently considering a 96 with about 24k miles, 2nd owner, no stories, wrecks etc. (according to owner, no PPI yet though). Majority of mtc records, all look very good, original window sticker, wiring harness done etc. Options are 17" cups, cd player with hifi sound, power left seat.
Buyer doesn't want to accept less than $37. I keep hearing mid 30's is what to expect.
This will be my first 993, so I am agonizing over finding the right one.
All opinions appreciated.
Thanks......Jim

I think for me, deciding on what color and options to get was the biggest problem.
After that, if you do find a car that matches and has all the right answers to the questions you have, paying a premium for the car is a small thing compared to getting what sets your heart and souls afire every time you see or drive the car.
Face it, they aren't building these cars anymore and if you find the exact car you're looking for and is it's your budget, what's to decide?

Thanks for the opinions.
Kelly, I've heard what you've said many times.....you find the right car, condition, color, options etc. don't loose it over $1k. Like you said, they aren't making any more of these wonderful cars.

I paid $40k for my concourse '96 C2 with 29k miles on her and some very tasteful mods. That was in May 2003 and the market has softened a bit since then. But my car was EXACTLY what I wanted and I would have had to spend $4k-$5k more on the mods, had I gotten a cheaper one and then made it into what I wanted.

For what it is worth i paid 36k for a 95 c2 coupe w/ 36k miles. have never looked back.
for full disclosure car came w/ 18inch nice wheels and servicing, rsr muffler , new clutch , 30 k servicing etc. so basically $8k of stuff which i would have normally done anyway.
So when doing the math ....think what is the cash your going to have to spend or not spend after you get it and put that in the calculations.

A clean 96 with 24k in a decent color combo would be an excellent buy at $37k out here in NorCal. If you don't want it . . .

Three Wheelin'
I'd grab that one if it has everything you want on it. I'm in the same boat but that price would be just a little bit over the top for me, especially since I can't live w/out bigger wheels and a few other things which would add some cost. I'm looking for pretty much the same car as you but I'll settle for a few more miles/lower price so I can get the car dropped with wheels and still have some cash for a full service on the car. That's hardly any miles at all on that one....sounds sweet. Give him the ol' "whats the least you'd be willing to accept line"...if its still $37K tell him $35K or $36K and "you're done hassling with ads, phone calls etc"...if he still doesn't bite then tell him you know there's one out there at the price you're willing to pay and that you're not in a hurry (basically use psychological warfare on him) then tell him "if you wake up one day and decide its time to get that car out of your garage, give me a call." Then check back with him in a week. I've got a car priced just about where I'm ready to buy it but I'm having second thoughts since its a '95 and I think maybe a '96 might be a better deal with the varioram induction. Lets see who buys one first....Good luck!

Thanks to all for the input. My decision is harder due to the fact that there is a very nice 95 Coupe locally that I am considering along with the 96.
I'll keep everyone informed of which way I go. I'm going to drive a few tomorrow. There is even a very nice 97 S2 that I am going to look at.
2ndof2......keep us informed of what you end up getting. I'll do the same.
Thanks......Jim
