993 ownership Pros and Cons?
In respect to warranty, I don't know how many times I have brought a vehicle in for warranty work and still end up paying money for something or another!
My suggestion: Go P-car - It will change your life!

As far a deciding between the two, well, if you have to ask, perhaps you:
a) haven't driven one but owning one sounds like something you'd like.
b) drove one but it didn't do anything for you.
c) want the more practical car because a car is, after all, just an appliance, even if it is a nice appliance.
If you're b or c, get the Nissan. If you're an a, go out and drive a few of the model year you're interested in. If you don't get sucked in, just forget about it an move on.
Not trying to be smug at all, but Porsches (like Alfas...whoa, I ain't going there!) have enough quirky "issues" with them that differentiate them from most mainstream cars; this IS the allure, OR the distaste. Just ask most 996 owners: they prefer the interiors because the 996 is a more mainstream vehicle...not a slam, just a maketing decision Porshce made to increase sales. Guess what, it worked! Conversely, the 911 owner generally prefers the "heritage" ingrained in their interiors. So there you go. Not much quantitative science here; I'd go with your gut! Good luck

My friend came over the other day with his new "Z". Very nice and quite a car. We went for a drive into the mountains with our wives for lunch. On the way back he asked if I minded swapping cars for the return trip.... Mind you........ he asked me!
We swapped and retreated for Denver via one of the local twisty roads. I drive the road all of the time and quite honestly ... I had a hard time keeping up with him. Needless to say his car was a nice car but nowhere close to the driving experience of my 993.
We stopped outside of Denver to trade cars again. His first words out of his mouth were "what happened to you" "I thought you wrecked my car or something" Needless to say I didnt want to break his heart by telling him I was pushing his car as fast as I felt I could trying to keep up.
2 weeks late he and I did the same trip again but this time without the spouses. He started out but after a few minutes I took the lead and never looked back.
Although the "Z" car was very quiet, and handeled well it lacked the "feel of the road" in the drivers seat. I am sure over a period of time one would get used to the Z and be able to push it a little harder.
On a different note.... an my wife made mention of this..... every time we have them over or go out we end up talking about the 993 and not his Z. His wife always asks me for a look and quick drive around the block too.. Always glad to uncover it and fire it up for her......... Drives him nuts!
