I am talking about the lower rear strut bolt that has a torx insert and a nut to lock it. I got the nut off, but I cant seem to be able to slide the bolt out without removing the whole lower control arm.
Yes, you pretty much have to remove the inboard toe link, at the adjuster eccentric. At least I had to. It tried everything to avoid this, but no luck.
Be sure to clean the cosmoline around the eccentric area, and mark where the adjustment is so you can return in back to where it was. The car will have to be realigned if you are changing the damper and/or the spring. This at least will get you close enough to drive it in for the alignment..
You may need to get the torx bit to hold the shaft while tightening the nut. The nut should use a 18mm wrench..
Go to Robin's site, p-car.com (though did I see it's down temporarily?), outlines rear shock and front strut replacement. I just did rears, and had to remove the arm, as outlined on the site.
