I’ve noticed the exhaust tips on passenger side is about 4 mm lower than the driver side. So I checked and the engine carrier is also 4 mm lower on the right when compared to a hard point on the body. Is this really a problem?
I was led to these observations a real problem. On rare occasion my shift linkage would seem to bind. This would occur when making a sharp turn in 1st gear and coming to an uphill stop. It was hard to get out of 1st and into neutral.
My linkage is in very good condition (golden rod installed) so I thought it might be transmission or motor mounts. I reinforced the transmission mount with Function First inserts and the longitudinal bracket with Powerflex insert. My motor mounts are Cortecko? and have about 50,000 miles on them. What is the authority’s in such matters think?
Assuming you haven't had any exhaust work down recently or reversed into a driveway, I'd say you have a failed engine mount.
those are the same symptoms I had when mine failed.
If you do end up replacing the motor mounts, I just switched to RS mounts from Carnewal. They are super solid. And the car shifts like butter - I also have GR/SSK from FD.
When replacing the engine mounts, do you do that by itself or is that generally done with other things, e.g., shift linkages, transmission mounts (?) assuming you are starting from stock? How much is a set of these RS mounts? Thanks.
RS ones are nice. Stock replacements are fine. I run the rennline mounts. I'm very happy with them.
Question. With everyone suggesting stiffer mounts, are they also reinforcing the engine carrier? Is this really an issue of premature failure with the firmer pieces?

I have RS mounts and left the engine carrier alone. I've read that with stock power it's not an issue.

And one more great thing with the RS mounts are that You can hear the AC compressor
when it's engaged!
Thanks for all the information. A question: is there a noticeable increase in NHV with the RS mounts? I use my car as a daily driver.
I found the RS mounts to provide a surprisingly noticeable improvement in handling (over my worn-out stock mounts) as well as making shifting much smoother.
The increase in NVH is minimal, though as noted above in my case the sound of the AC compressor running was noticeably increased in the cabin. Radio on, no problem. Radio off, it's quite noticeable.
