carbon fiber information wanted
i have been looking for the carbon fiber parts that fit on the door panels of a 96 993. dealer says no longer made. so if i cant find them i think i will try to make a set.
can some one send me a photo of them, and/or describe the thickness and how the sides are finished.
or any tips on where i might buy some factory carbon would be greatly apreciated. interested in any interior parts.
i have contacted the usual rennlist advertisers and have had no luck so far.
thank you

Dr. There is someone that posts by the name of Robert Linton I think. By now he may have made a whole car out of carbon fiber.

94-96 door panel different, but youre killing me
nice carbon interior!!!
i can see from the photos the door panels have nice rounded sides so making them out of flat stock will not work
thanks for the offer

If you can't find any...
You might want to try taking off your currect vinyl/leather wrapped panels (since they are removable) then take off the vinyl/leather and have the supporting board wrapped in carbon fabric and cured with proper resin. Or you could make a mold out of either fiberglass/tooling carbon to get that rounded edge and make real pieces from that.

Kenneth,
I encountered a similar problem after damaging the factory CF/leather steering wheel during the Road America accident. Supposedly no longer available from the factory per several sources. Eventually, I believe Phil Anderson at Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota was able to order one from the factory. Unfortunately, it may be 6-12 months before I get it.
I'm actually still having trouble getting a chestnut brown leather covered airbag. They sent me a vinyl one.
Only seven years old and parts are already getting scarcer. Scary. Makes you wonder if car companies really do want us to throw away our cars after five years.

Dr.
Porsche part numbers:
000 044 800 32
000 044 800 33
about $420 each
was the dealer able to check other dealer's inventory on their computer??
i checked on rennlist sponsor Pelican Parts' site. the individual panels came up as NLA...but, they list a carbon door panel kit right above it. BUT, it says for '97 and up. I am not sure what the difference is between the -96 and 97- door panel inserts.when i clicked on 'add to cart', it says that it usually ships in 2 days. It may be worth a phone call.
Here is Pelican's 993 tequipment carbon page
good luck,
max

the only difference that i can see between the -96 and the 97- inserts is that the 97-s are slightly larger. they go all of the way down to the armrest, where the -96 inserts are smaller and leave the door panel exposed in that area.
I would assume that the do inserts would be interchangable, just offering a slightly different look.
