Default Safelite glass repair...any good in San Francisco?

I searched, but most of the conversations were about replacement, not repair. I got a rock chip/crack, and insurance recommending Safelite.

Are they good? If not, where would you recommend in San Francisco?

JPS,

I swear there is a safelite service station here in SF. I drove by it, I think it's located somewhere on 4th St. south of market, somewhere around Townsend. But, I tried looking them up on their website and no location. You might just have to call the east bay number.

If it only a small crack, dime-sized or so, and not directly in your line of sight. I'd recommend you get one of those mobile repair shops to fix it, rather than replace the whole windshield. It will save you about $500-800...They use a acrylic glue that stops the crack from spreading. Can't hardly see where the old crack was on mine.

YEah, the repair is what I'm looking at, and the insurance recommended Safelite...I just don't trust insurance, so I'm checking around. Sonnen Porsche recommended Glass Plus...any thoughts there?

Jim,

You have any recommendations for the quickie mobile repairs? I got a nasty 1/2" slit on my way back from the Carmel meet a few weeks ago.

Default windshield repair

JPS, I had the windshield replaced on my 97 upon the recommendation of Sonnen in Mill Valley. Glass plus came out and installed it in my garage. Very professional and excellent job. Not the cheapest. Good luck.
