Sad news ...a bus rammed my car ...
Sad news,
A stupid city-bus rammed my right flank with his rear bumper when he made a right turn at a crossing. I was waiting my turn in the left lane to turn left.
It was that kind of extra long bus, the ones with an extra floating part. He made his turn to sharp or too wide, whatever.... he hitted from the middle of the passengers door, ripped it open like a can-opener, continued on the left wing and ripped a part of the front bumper away, and of he went.
I had to chase hime like James Bond in Brussels! Of course its not my fault and his insurance has got to pay for the damege (estimated at 5.000 EURO) but now I have to go through all the paperworks, expertise, insurance arguments, etc .... if my car is repaired over 4 weeks than I can be a happy man ..... meanwhie I drive aroundwith a damaged car.
The worse thing is the smile on peoples faces when they see a damaged Porsche .... "he he he look at that guy with his damaged Porsche, bet he drives like a nut, good for him"
Pics to follow.
The only good part is that I am gonna have a Turbo bumper installed instead of the normal one on their expense.

Repair
Sorry to hear of your accident, but don't forget the most important element which we always remind each other of on this site: You emerged without a scratch.
Go for the Turbo bumper cover and make sure that you document the repair thoroughly for the sake of possible resale value.
The hard part is being deprived of your car for the duration of the repair. It will make the reunion that much sweeter though.
Good luck!

First, I'd be very pissed off my car was damaged due to someone elses negligence. Second, I wouldn't drive around in a damaged car (Porsche or otherwise). Make your insurance provide you with something.
Lastly, if you're a nut about your car like most of us get involved with every step your insurance takes to have it repaired. You're the customer so you should be able to determine which shop is used for repairs. If you don't have a personal favorite, ask who they will use and visit them for a little face to face Q & A session. If you're not happy with any of the answers demand a different shop. I've pulled mine out of a shop before. Remember, these shops have agreements with Insurance companies and your car is most likely just another number to them. My 0.02.

Thanks guys for all your kind words.
Ouch Max, luckily it doesn't looks like that one.
Silver Bullet, you brought me to an idea ...
As for the P-specialist, its a very good one. Trust him all the way, in fact its a quiet straightforward job as the door, wing and bumper are completely ruined. So its a bolt off, bolt on job and they garantueed me that there will be no color difference after the job. I am not sure about the luggage compartiment cover if its a little bend or not. The wing is completely pushed against it, I don't even dare to open it.
The oil cooler was not squashed but they will have a closer look at it.
Thing is I found second hand Original Turbo wheels, which I am gonna get next saturday. Was so looking fwd to put them on the car .... guess I'll have them in my garage for the next few weeks.
I absolutely need my baby before the 4th of april as we have a Porsche meeting ... never in my life do I wanna miss this.
thansk to all,

Silver Bullet is right- ask about a diminished value of vehicle payment. I wrecked my M3 a few years back and had it repaired. They did a great job, but when the insurance adjuster came out, I went into this big speech about how I bought this car b/c of its handling and the stiffness of the chassis and how I was worried the wreck had messed up the structural integrity of the car. I got a check for $3,000 the next day. My insurance carrier is State Farm. When I sold the car a few months ago to buy my 993, I got about $3,000 less than a friend of mine who sold a similar car, so now I see why they do it.

I feel your pain having crashed mine last month. The insurance company totaled it out after a fight. I hope the insuranc e guys in Europe haven't wised up, I can no longer get dimnished value on my policy per the last policy endorsement change. Good luck Beto ps Targa replacement on the way!!
