Windshield Outer Seal Snapped

Windshield Outer Seal Snapped
So while the car was seating on the driveway, the seal just snapped at the bottom of the screen almost exactly in the middle. This is a new seal that was unstalled 2 yrs ago, I believe it's Porsche part. There are a number of threads on windshields, seals front and back, and I checked those but I'm interested in anyone having this exact issue. What could be causing it, other than maybe a faulty seal?
Also, what should I do next? Do I just buy a new one and replace it or is there something I need to address prior to that? In other words, any underlying issue that might not be visible...
Thanks,
Mel

The seal has a seam right in that spot. It’s probably a weak spot. I’d just buy a new seal and replace it. There is probably no need to overthink it.
I’ve posted a thread on this before. While the seal is out, I would clean out the channels and put some wax on the paint that normally sits under the seal.

could it have failed by being mounted upside down? Is the top edge of the window slightly shorter than the bottom and the seal was stretched to fit causing the subsequent failure?
Pull the outer seal off. Reinstall it using sealant. You can probably center the broken seam at the top center where it is hidden under the high mounted stop light cover. If you can't reuse it buy a replacement and trial fit it.

It's the front screen. Do as Rk-d said or just glue it back in for the moment.

Once you get the new seal, they have been known to shrink and dry out over time. I have been using Zymol Seal Conditioner which appears to be keeping the seal soft and pliable.

The seal was probably installed and stretched at this point too much. Toss it, clean the channel really well, wax the paint and put a new one in. Do not use adhesive. The seam goes on the bottom center from the factory.

It was mounted the right way with the seam at the bottom so I don't think that's the issue; the shop that did the work is pretty knowledgable with older 911s. The failure did not occur at the seam but about an inch away from it. Anyway, it doesn't look like any type of adhesive was used and from your responses and going through the history of the board postings that seems to be the rght way.
So I will order the new one and some Zymol and will put it on.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
