Default SUMITOMO HTR Z III (285/30R/18 Size)

Hello All,

Does anyone know if Sumi stopped making these tires in the 285/30R/18 size?

Was going to replace the two rear tires on my '98 C2S with another pair of these but didn't see them on Tire Rack's site.

Some other sites still have them but was wondering if they will be old tires or if Sumi is going to a new design.

Thanks.

Tim

I'd consider going with 295s as well. Sumis are slimmer tires and 285s visually I've noticed look a bit stretched on factory twists vs the 295s

Sumis are much narrower than other tire brands for sure.

Thanks for the replies.

I assume the 295's will not affect the driving performance of the car?

No esp for street driven I currently have my factory hollow twists on 225/295 Sumis. You can also up the size in the front to 235's too.

I just went from 285/30/18 to 295/30/18 HTRZ3 and no rubbing issues or anything. They fit much better for me!

I bought a set of rears (295) for the GT3, my track alignment means inexpensive tires for me to do the 'commute' from home to shop to track...

I noticed they were closeout in the 295, so maybe being replaced? Glad I ordered when I did. I figure that will buy me 2 full summers, maybe 4K miles before I need to replace all four.

Cheers

Matt

Did you also change the front tire as well from 225/40-18 to 235/40-18 without problem?

Changing to 235 isn’t an issue too. However I kept mine as 225, I noticed the 235 look visually a bit fatter in profile for my taste.

I have had a HTR Z III's 295 30 18's and 235 40 18's for years. They fit great, handle wonderfully and are fairly priced. No rubbing (recently tried Michelin PS in same size and they rubbed in the rear...car lowered btw).
The Sumi's are discontinued now so if you want a set call around and see if you can snarf up what's left.

On my 3rd set. Sorry to hear they are discontinued. Looks like there is a Sumi HTR Z5 not yet rated. I’ll be interested to see some tests and reviews. This must be the replacement.
