Hell yes, at $10 I would really say I would have to think long and hard about it, and yes I'm a cheap bastard! At least no one here is going to accuse me of having unnecessary and expensive work done on my car, things such as an $8000 oil change err... top-end rebuild to address the need for a properly done oil change!
All in good fun!
Andy ;-)

I agree with a portion of your statement. You are cheap! Unsure whether or not you are a bastard.

But do you get drunk any less?

If you can’t figure out the keys, shoot me a note. It took me a bit, but I took mine apart AND put it back together. Another RL member and I are doing some wrenching tomorrow (on the rover though).

Did you replace the key heads or utilize your existing key heads and replace the batteries. Also, which crest is on your key head?

I replaced the bulb and the battery. Light worked for a while and then it stopped. Unfortunately, my key head, like yours, lost its crest (and my second key is the older style).

From where did you get the battery and bulb? And, did you replace your crest?

Wink Car Key Heresy!

Check out my spiffy Speed Yellow key fob!
Purchased from my authorized key fob case dealer eBay!
Looks great with the fresh key head and crest and it cost a lot less than $10!
Made it up for my wife, don't you think it adds a little something extra?

Pelican or Porsche Main Line. I forget which, I think it was Pelican. I have not replaced my crest which is why I am following your plans with such interest.

Good Morning pp000830,

I like your key fob. It matches your car as does my key fob. And for $10.00!! You can't beat your price. You must know that your key crest is not original to the car. From everything I'm reading on this thread, silver/pewter crests are original to our cars.
Moreover, you are a wise man. If you want to be happy, do the right thing for your wife.

I ordered from Pelican:
2ea key heads complete, 2ea silver/pewter crests and 2ea batteries. I think that I ordered every permutation possible.
I know that my keys are original to the car. Upon receipt, I will know which crest is correct to my car by the fit.
The total cost was over $110.00 with shipping and taxes. I hope my existing bulbs are good because Pelican isn't cheap on their shipping for small parts.

I hope pp000830 doesn't see what I spent. He may suffer a massive coronary.

Andy aka pp000830,

I reviewed your post again. No way that you built your custom key fobs, with the key head and the crest for $10.00! The crests are $11.50 each from Pelican.
Please provide a breakdown of your material costs.
I feel at best you are being disingenuous and motivated to please your wife.
