Default 60k service on 95 993

Fello Rennlisters,
Can anyone advise on a shop to perform a 60k service? I was leaning twords the local P-dealer but the $1400. sounds a bit high. Any thoughts? I am located in Collegeville, PA.

Thanks & God Bless,
Tom

Tom - I don't know any local shops in your area, but don't pay $1400 if you can help it. That's about what the Va P-dealer wanted to do mine last summer, but the independent shop I normally go to did it for $500 less.

Tom,

I'm assuming you spoke to Don Rosen in Conshohocken?

There are two shops I know within 30-45 minutes of where you are. Both are owned by knowledgeable p-car enthusiasts and I've heard nothing negative about either one of 'em.

1) Montella's Auto Center (www.montellasautocenter.com)
427 West County Line Road
Hatboro, PA 19040
215-441-4900
They're even open on Saturday's.
They were recommended to me by someone in the local PCA club (Riesentoter). I did my inspections here but have gone to J&J (below) since because Jay's a lot closer to me and conveniently by the train station.

2) J&J Motors
1111 W Lancaster Ave
Bryn Mawr, PA 19010
610-525-5000
Jay was recommended to me by Todd on this board.

Hope this helps.

You could of course try to do it yourself, which is what I'll be doing once the weather gets warmer (my mileage is around 62K). All the info is at p-car.com. If you want, I'll be happy to do it with you and perhaps learn from each other. I'm about 30 minutes or so away from you in the Radnor area (Villanova/ St. Davids exit on 476S).

You may also want to try Don Galbraith Motoring in Wayne. They really know their stuff. Don Ripoff (i mean Rosen) is pretty bad. I got burned twice by them when they provided a "safety inspection" of the car. Once when I first bought it...they asked if I would like them to check things out as I brought it in for the harness recall. They did not mention it was $180. They did it again 3 months later for an oil change...$340. for an oil change and they did not even change the filters!!

Thanks Dan,Mike and Rezal,
Very useful info. I did hear of Don Galbraith and J&J. I will be contacting them shortly. Getting back to your suggestion Rezal, I would love to do it myself but with my two sons ages 4 & 6mo. makes it very difficult, you know tools would vanish, probably in the toy box. J&J probably would fit perfect because my office is in Edgemont. Thanks again for the info.
God Bless all,
Tom

J&J is a great shop. I have recommended them to many people over the years, including Rezal.
