Default Help me quit looking at this!

I'm not quite ready to jump into a 993 yet, but I can't help from looking at this. It all looks fine and dandy except for the fact that it says, "The car has had previous roof damage and now has a PA reconstructed Title." I assume that means the car was totaled out somehow? I think I need to steer clear of cars like that...regardless of all the cosmetic enhancements that are added on.

Yes, that means it was totaled at one point.

Please just buy it for the sole reason that I can continue to see that great avatar on this forum! What are you wearing?!?!

Steve-

Quit looking at this !

No pics of roof, body kit and repaint of entire car. Probably a rollover IMO.
At that price, seems too high. You should be able to find a much better example with no issues for not much more.

Wait and you will find the right car.

Evan's right. A non-damaged '96 isn't too much more than what the current bid is, and worth the extra $$ for peace of mind knowing that the integrity of the car hasn't been compromised. While it looks great, I think in the long haul you might regret getting it.

Thanks guys!

Actually that's not me. Just a random picture of a guy in an Optimus Prime outfit....remember the Transformers?

From all the reading in this forum it seems about 3-6 months is pretty average time for finding the right car. And as many of you would say, don't comprimise on what you want! So my wait will be finding a silver '95 or '96 coupe. I don't think I could afford an S or S4 since my budget for a 993 will probably be right at 30K for one, 35K at my absolute limit, depending on how much I can save between now and when I find one. But I'd love to get a widebody. We'll see though.

cosmetic enhancements
that is debatable!!!

looks like they added some Gabriel hi-jackers air shocks to get the car to sit that high.

i think it is already overpriced at his opening bid.

just my 2 cents.

ohh.....looking at your avatar....is that an unauthorized photo of JimBob Jumpback??

Expert opinion, heard here and elsewhere, is that a rebuilt title car is worth 50 cents on the dollar.

(Might help you quit looking)

I agree, I should have put cosmetic enhancements in quotation marks.

Good to know Chris, that's done it already!

Oh man! I didn't even see that....or more to the point that I wouldn't be familar enough with the 911's to tell from the pic. Now it looks like it was dropped on it's roof or something. What a piece!

If he'd let it go for $20k it would probably be a good start on a race car, eh?

BTW it says turbo body, but that doesn't look like a turbo body to me. Rocker panels <> Turbo body.

Also, on salvage title cars, if you total the car or it gets stolen, you'll be offered MUCH less than blue-book value, even tho you paid full premiums, in my experience.

i'dont think there is anything wrong with buying a car with a salvage history. I go the auction alot here in the northeast and have come across quite a few porsches for sale and they all fetch good money. Sometimes you can get a bargain. My first 911 was a 77 coupe missing engine and trans. cost me $4000.00 nine years ago. I recently purchase a 95 993 for $10,600 with 41k. this car was hit in the rear. I was able to fix below wholesale cost. I believe that purchasing a used 993 is up to the indivdual if he want to save on the sale price an auction might be the best for him or her. Why should I shell out 35-40 grand for a used 993 when I could save 10-15 grand buying from a salvage yard and use some change for improvement....just my 2 cents
