Post Jackpoint that attaches to the back of the engine

Here's a jackpoint that attaches to the back of the engine so you don't have to put a jack on the crankcase. It also has a tow hook that attaches to the jackpoint.

I wonder how many people would be interested in one of these?

Ron, I'm afraid that for roughly 260 bucks, I will use the engine to jack the car. The tow hook is a nice option, but while at the track, you can always remove your license plate and buy a second $10 tow hook from the dealer and screw it into the bumper.

Armand and Greg,

There's a place in town that designed them. I think they are $260 with the tow hook. I'm not sure if they work with regular mufflers or not. I think they are probably more for racers and people who track there cars alot. I'm going to ask Gordon at Autometrics tommorrow. There website is autometricsmotorsports.com

Controversy remains as to whether or not one should jack up the car using the engine case as a jacking point. Some feel it puts undue stress on the motor mounts. I may be dealing with "urban legend" here, however a mechanic buddy did recently scold me a bit for engaging in such a practice. He advises to jack the car up in the rear using a cross-member...I'll have to look under the car this week to see what he is talking about. I can't visualize the spot in my mind.

The price on this piece seems a bit "spendy". I'll buy a rear tow hook, and for the time being, will be jacking up the car from the factory jacking points.

Somebody put this engine jacking story to rest, please. It is so convenient!

Maybe something like this factory contraption shown in the 964 factory manual:
