Ahhh, this (s4dt) is the manager who so graciously gives us a place to meet legally AND organizes these events. We have space where we can park, display, talk etc all without worry of being kicked out for loitering. This meet really is quite fun, and has been growing pretty quick by word of mouth. The drinks are great too at his place. You guys should come check it out! Bring your family or friends or whomever, its a good time, and its pretty much all good people. only diehards make a point to wake up early enough to have their cars there at 10am on a sunday. Come for the people, the coffee, or the drive, either way, their all great!

The guy that crashed the mini responded in NASIOC! This is good. He quoted the guy in the White STi. Here:

Well as it turned out I was the one at bottom of Tuna Cyn. first waiting for him.

I am glad that he was ok.

I go on Cyn Runs to have a little fun...I'm not there to prove anything to anyone.
If I wanted to race I would take it to the track....after that guy fixes up his Mini I would be more than happy to meet him at Willow Springs...Loser pays track

"So what did happen, let's start with why the car broke loose, as maxmini stated the tie rod blew out and literally
trew me in to the barrier with no chance to recover. Yes I did think I had a blow out, as it made sense for how the
car behaved pulling to the left in a left hand corner that would usually not happen.

I am also sorry that I embarraced you (white STI) the reallity is that I past you fair and square in a corner where
your front end washed out to the right and after that I walked away from you like you where standing still......

I will take your Willow springs challange not only that but I will bet you .........$500 for the fastest car
around the track Yes a $ 500.00 Challenge......... any track any day let's do it.

Regarding down force , yes I do have huge down force but the ballance is neutral. I will dial in some more
sway bar and change the rear shock compression to add some more oversteer.

PS. If you where there you would have realized that I was not pissed over the car being broken at all
as a matter of fact, I was pretty relaxed about the whole thing as I knew it could be fixed very easily
and as we speak the car is almost together. for more fun

PS. If I would not gotten the Mini a WRX
would be parked in my drive way...

peace" --Quote the guy who crashed the mini.

thats another thing, he didn't blow a tierod, he can't face the fact that he made a mistake. the tie rod might be broken now, since he messed up all his suspension and such in the front.

...excuses, excuses... Besides, aren't those drives called "Fun Runs" for that reason. It's the time to enjoy your own as well as others' cars, socialize, share track stories, and just enjoy the company. People like that just can't be taught. Hope to see you there one Sunday, Eyal. In the mean time, stay out of the way of "those types."

Hope to see you too! I think absolute last position, where I was, cause I know my limits, was a fairly decent placeto be to not have to deal with this guy. Two sundays ago, however, when my Porsche was down, I went with my brother, who followed this guy. My brother is quite the driver for no track experience and only 18, he floowed this guy all the way up stunt and down Tuna. i got a GOOD look at how this guy drives, and it is not professional, and not right. His idea of turning is yank on the hand brake! Is he fast? yes. Fast enough to make him dangerous. Otherwise, dont let him discourage, everyone else was great, he can always be ignored.

It was just mentioned in a couple of posts, but why is this kind of behavior happening and being promoted? I am not a wimp or crazy safety freak AND I have enjoyed some "spirited" driving on the canyon roads. WE all have access to great tracks and worse case scenario parking lot autocrosses. These so called "fun runs" are getting ridiculous. Flame towards inexperienced boy racers-NOT responsible Porsche guys that organize some of the runs ie. Addison, Lee etc.

Accidents and mechanical failure can happen and that is why I choose to drive ONLY with people I know well AND I know their abilities.

With all these fun runs and crazy kids hitting the canyon roads and angeles crest we will surely see fatalities and a lot more accidents. Motorcyclists, bicycle riders and residents are complaining about all of the "jerks" flying around Mulholland.

Eyal, why don't you learn your car at Willow Springs? PCA, POC and a lot of other groups have tons of opportunities.

This Mini guy is too funny. I wonder if he thinks he can beat me in my GT2 also... hehehe

The canyon roads are getting dangerous because they are being driven by ricer morons who don't have a clue what a line or car control is. This is why I am selective as to who I drive with.

As far as the POC, while I enjoy the track immensely, I find many of them to be a bunch of unfriendly old geezers who are especially bitter when newbies come in and demolish their times. Or maybe I just went on a bad day...

88clbsprort,

Maybe I am missing something in this thread, but I don't see this behavior being promoted. I see that Eyal 951 pointed out the one idiot there, who should not be there, and how one should not behave. I don't see promotion of that behavior.

Also, they are taking it to the track.

"Eyal, why don't you learn your car at Willow Springs? PCA, POC and a lot of other groups have tons of opportunities."

I can't think of anything I'd like to do more, oh wait, yes I can! Fill up my gas tank! I'm out of a job right now, looking for part time work while I go to school. Going to the track, going to the autocross is out of the question right now. For me, there isn't anything more that I enjoy doing then driving, driving in its most adrenaline building form. These canyons provide a way to do this for free. Well, until you make a mistake, which is more like a probability not a possibility on these canyons. In a way, I imagine these roads funner then track, because they have so much more to feature, and so much more involved in being good on these roads then on the track. In no way am I saying I am good, not right now. I'm learning a lot of new factors since I'm fairly new to my car. I just find these roads irresistible, as do many of your 993 compadres here I see. Any enthusiast around this area seems quite keen of these roads, some more then others. It's almost a culture, "the Canyon Runners".
