Post-PSS9 tire rub issue...
A month ago I had a PSS9 kit installed and my car was lowered app. 1.5". The weather has improved here and now I'm getting some more miles on it.
Now I am experiencing a tire rub when at speed and hit a strong dip in the pavement. It has happened maybe 6 or 8 times - always (I think) on the left side, sometimes the front only, sometimes both front and rear. Tires/wheels are stock except for 275 tires on the rear.
Once again, it only happens at speed, say 50mph-ish. No problems with tight turning radius and my new Gert bar is still untouched. PSS9s are still set at 9/9. The car was aligned but not corner balanced.
Seems to me that raising the car will fix things but to me that's a last resort.
If anyone has comments/advice/ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks y'all.

Hard to diagnose without seeing it. It would also be helpful if you could indicate where the rubbing occurs and what visible evidence you have.
Without that info I would suggest that if you stiffen you settings on the PSS9's you *might* eliminate the rubbing or at least minimize it. Try a setting of 4 or 5 all the way around and see what happens.

Can you see a rub mark inside the wheel well somewhere where it is hitting? Couple of things, what are your camber settings, and what are your shocks currently set to?

Jeff, There is no reference mark. I thought I had mine on full soft and was initially dissapointed in the firm ride for soft. Well, after a couple days I was getting ready for an autocross and switched them to "firm". On the drive to the autocross it was obvious that I interpreted the settings backwards. I suggest you go for a drive at the two extremes and then you'll see which is which.

Jeff,
If you look right at the adjustment dial, you'll see arrows with a "+" and a "-" and numbers. I just turn the **** to it's softest position, then count the clicks to where you want to set it. On thing I don't like is that the click detents feel a bit mushy, but turn it a few times and you'll get the feel for it.

Are you sure that it is rubbing of the tires. In the cold weather my car makes some rubbing sounds going over bumps. From other posts I noticed that this is a common winter problem that does not usually involve the tires.

All is OK now. It turned out to be related to the 275s on the rear. It seems the PO had the left rear fender slightly rolled and after lowering the car the rub returned. Tapping the fender back into slightly rolled position took care of the problem. Visually you can't tell at all. I don't think I would have put the 275s on but they sure fill up the wheel well nicely. I also set the PSS9s to 6/6 - noticeably tighter/better.
Forklift - saw your car at ASG. You ought to be getting excited about now. Geoff will take great care of you.

Cool, glad you got it worked out...and yes I am like a kid wating for Christmas. My Sparcos will be in next week and I might have the car next Friday, sooooooooo many potholes around here though.
Yes, ASG and Geoff are the best shop I have ever worked with and I try to promote them whenever I can.
Thanks!

Jim-
May I ask what size wheels and tires you have installed in the rear? I wonder if your wheel offsets are correct because from my reading of many posts here, 285 size tires should be fine on the rear even on a lowered car. At least I HOPE that's correct, cuz my car has 285s and is getting PSS9s installed as we speak!
