Yes, Viken, I am considering that. No decision yet as I am also considering 18" Carrera 5-spokes. If I get those I think I'll put 265s on the rear, not the 285s. Sound right?

Clearly, you don't need 285/30's and the 265/35's will work better. However, used with factory wheels, most people have managed to make the 285/30 clear on a lowered narrow body car.

I just lowered my carrera S with H&R lowering springs and my right rear tire rubs eveytime I go over a small bump. The thing is I really need new tires so I was thinking if maybe I get something smaller than my 285/30/18 in the back it will stop rubbing. Do you think this will work and if so can you guys give suggestions on what tire size to get. Help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Assuming you have factory specified wheels, and you are still using the stock shocks. Your rubbing can be the result of one or both of the following:

- Worn shocks and rubber bushings/spacers leading to bottoming out
- Alignment values are out of spec

Did you not change the shocks when you got the H&R's? Did you have a shop perform an alignment after the install?

I did not change the shocks. The car was aligned though. I know that shocks would be the proper thing to do. I just dont have the funds for them at the time. Is There anything else I could do to get around this problem or should I just buy some shocks on my visa card.

As a follow-up, I got my car back...lowered about 1.25" with new PSS9, running 285-30/18 S02 in rear on hollow-spoke turbo twist wheels. Like I expected, I'm getting no rubbing. Had me worried for a sec Viken.
