Wink Chicago, Wisconsin, Good Karma & Last Call

Last call for our First Annual Chicago Area Rennlisters Summer Gathering (OK, I change the name every time I type it, but it's something like that) this Saturday, June 28th.

See this link for details and to sign up: http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=009480;p=3

If you're in Chicago or southern Wisconsin, c'mon out and join us. Why, think of the good 993 karma alone! With all those Porsche enthusiasts in one place, the collective good vibes shall heal your car!

CELs will mysteriously extinguish themselves, door hinges will grow suddenly silent, temp gauges will rest rock-steady at 8 o'clock, and carbon build-up will disappear with nary a trace! Come, feel the love!

I'm looking forward to it, Bob. Even bringing my first wife to it. Thanks for setting it up.

I just was at The Exchange grand opening tonight. Lots of customers with Porsches that end in 6. Very nice cars, and very fast ones like Gonzo's and Rich W's, but I'm really looking forward to hearing that air-cooled symphony. Sixteen 993s and 964s should sound great.

Here's a trivia question for our gathering.

What was the closest sports car road-racing course, past or present, to Lake Geneva, WI? A HWFM Racing hat to the first correct answer.

The long defunct Wilmot Hills? or Meadowdale in Carpentersville?...

Wilmot it is. Very good.

Remember what was written on the track after turn 1?

(great shot -- I had an Alfa like that one)

Mike,

I couldn't tell you what was at turn one. Do you mean the "Pray" that was painted on the track going up the hill?

My father was quite active in the SCCA when I was very young. My major memories of Wilmot center around the funky ski lodge that I recall in the infield.

I'll PM you for the generous offer of a coveted HWFM hat, and dream of one day being designated the Assistant Under Secretary of Useless Road Racing Trivia for the team...

Thanks again,
Tim

Was it something about a blind curve?

It did indeed say "pray" on the asphalt ahead of a blind, uphill turn.

The ski lodge was in the infield, about 10 feet off a hairpin at the start of the front straight.

Chris,

Sorry, employees of HWFM racing and their immediate families are not eligible to win.

Dad

(BTW, do you have any idea how much that college cost? -- A TT, or in your terms a Z-8)
