Post Overkill if...

As I write this post I am having a car a 1996 C4S get a PPI done at Intersport. My question is would a leak down test and compression test be overkill. The car is an Arena Red with 33K miles.

Also if anyone the are can please look at the car for me? I live in Chicago and this is killing me. Intersport will do the PPI, but I need someone to take a look at the body to see if the car has any bad rock chips, dents, scapes, scratches and dings etc...Man I can't sleep!

Thank you!

Pleaee excuse the 2nd paragraph. I'm telling you the waiting is nerve racking. I think on my way to work today I was seeing elves cross the street.

That's what lack of sleep does...

If they keep the car parked outside, I can get there after work today or tomorrow. But I can never get there during business hours. I know Intersport is popular around here. But when I asked Omar about a full PPI with comp. and leakdown on a 993, he said it would run $470. That's ridiculous. Bear in mind also that they have recently gotten into the car selling business and might try to steer you to one of their cars if your ppi shows anything wrong.

Rick: Good to know. If you can look at the car, I really appreciate it.

Kim: Thank you and are definitely correct about that.

Thank you again!

Are there any records available? A well documented/maintained 993 over just 33K miles in my opinion would not need a comp or leak down test.

If everything else checks out and you see all service records are in order, I wouldn't get a comp or leak down... It just isn't needed.
That said, it can't hurt.

A car with 33k shouldn't have a problem but I'd do it anyway. The cost is cheap for the assurance it gives you. Mine had 30k & I had it done and the PPI w/leak-down was 3 hrs labor (1 hr PPI + 2 hr for leakdown/compression). So you can figure out the price depending on the rate at the shop of your choice. As expected I had no problems but I was buying peace of mind.
