Thumbs up Group Buy: Wheel and Tire Sets

Any interest an informal group buy for tires and wheels? By informal I mean each person pays the dealer and has his order shipped to him.

The tires and wheels are as follows:
Sport Classic II or Sport Designs-fronts,8x18, offset 52mm; rears 10x18, offset 65mm; tires are Pirelli 18x40x225 and 18x30x285. I believe for widebody a 25mm spacer will be required and will need to be purchased separately.

The price is not firm but I think it will be around $2600 to $2700 excluding shipping. Depending on how many are interested I think the dealer should charge less than what I said above and I can probably negociate for a lower price. These wheels are normaly quite expensive.

If you are interested please respond to this post here. I don't want to have e-mails sent to me yet regarding this matter. I put together a group buy previously and want to keep this as simple as possible for the time being.

Thanks, Ron

Ron,

Interested in the 18" 5-spoke 996 Carrera wheels. Haven't decided on a tire combo yet. Let me know if you can get this added to the "group purchase".

Is this the same dealer where Martin got his wheels? If so, I haven't contacted them on a quote yet.

Chris,

I don't think they have the 5 spoke now. I'll call tomorrow and post here.

I think Martin got his at Hendrick in Charlotte, if so I'm dealing with another dealer.

There were some wheels like you want on ebay. Southern-exchange had them they had Michelin Pilot Sports. Didn't meet reserve so not sold. I think the guys reserve was near $2800. That's just a guess since he did not post it.

The prices on Porsche orginal wheels and tires is all over the place. It seems that some dealers buy quantities of wheel and/or tire wheel combos that happen to be offer by Porsche at a good price. The 2 wheels which the dealer I'm dealing with is offering are some of the most expensive offered. Of course if they are not your preference that doesn't matter.

Here's a photo of a Rennlister's car I found a while ago. I don't remember who the owner was.

The wheels are Sport Designs. Very nice.

I did get the wheels from Hendrick. When you call, don't expect them to pick up the phone. They will call you back: Scott Keziah is the Parts manager skeziah@hendauto.com Service was good with excellent prices. Todd, the guy I have worked with in the past has moved into service.

Martin, glad you're still around. I went with Al for the powdercoat on my cups. Nice guy, I am very happy with the result.

Thx

Chris and Jamfish,

Yes we can get the 5 spoke Carrera Wheel too. The widths and offsets are the same as for the other two wheels described in my first post.

Pricing will be the same as I described in the first post.

If you know anyone else interested in these wheels and tires let them know. I'm confident that as the number of people involved goes up that the price will go down.

Ron,

If we are talking about the MY02 5 spoke I am also interested. I had been thinking about S03's but at the price, Pirelli's would certainly satisfy my needs. I am not sure what offset would be required for the MY02-5 spoke, but would be putting them on a 95 narrow body.

thx in advance for putting this together.. I know from experience it is at best difficult to get commitments.

Chris,

Sorry, but we both can't be running around Atlanta with the same name, same color car and the same wheels, so pick another wheel please.... LOL!

Actually a question -- is there a difference between the '02 and '03 5-spoke 996 wheel? If so, links to pictures appreciated.

cYa!

Hi Chris. Come on, my interior's cashmere, and you have on of them pimp wings <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> Besides, I never see you driving round.

BTW--I have a Tequipment black leather/alum shifter and ebrake for sale if you're in need.

No difference in the wheels from 02/03 (that I know of)

Yes, I do love my pimp wing and black interior. Both were requirements LOL! I am hoping to get my car ready for the next DE. Did you go to the one last week?

Anyway, don't need the shifter and brake as I have the factory upgrades already in place. Looking forward to the wheels/tires and PSS-9 setup

Let's get together one day soon, I am in need of some P-car bonding.
