Default Uh Oh - I broke something... but what?

I am in the beginning stages of installing a Porsche Classic Radio in my 1995 C2. Step one is to remove the old after market stereo and accompanying miles of wire. As I always seem to do, I got overzealous and apparently ripped out a wire I should not have. There was a wire that was connected to the passenger side bottom of the windshield. It looks like some type of sensor. It is a black wire with a copper tip that looks to be glued to the windshield and was hidden by the rubber gasket. I've attached some poor pictures below. Can anyone tell me what this sensor does and what will not work as a result of my stupidity? Thanks.

I suspect it can be reattached.

Looks like the windshield antenna, which should run to an antenna amplifier in there somewhere. Yes, you need to keep that amplifier, too. You went way way overboard in removing wires if you got all the way up here.

Thank for the replies. It looks like the copper part of the wire was adhered to the windshield somehow. Glue maybe. Any thoughts on how to reattach the wire to the windshield? Thanks
